Escorts 2nd SAS

i agree, unless you're gonna run a detroit or ARB, dont waste the carrier.

Cant see any problem with it, if your going to buy a locker might as well do it for now. What kind of locker are you going for in the rear?

I've heard of a thing called doing fuzzy spider gears/locker(thread somewhere here on it), allows you to take the spiders out later and replace them and you can still use your carrier later on if you want.

yep thats what i am planning. Just weld between the teeth on the spiders.
Looking at getting a lockrite or spartan lunch box locker.

Exactly what I did for the time being. I am hoping I can get the spiders out and reuse the carrier. That way I won't have to reinstall the gears.

Here is a picture of what my problem is that I will try to fix in the next couple days...

See how the coil is in front of the axle...

I am going to cut the round part off that holds the coil in place and weld a 3/16" plate on top and then reweld the round part to the plate. I will take tons of pics along the way for anyone that might be interested...

And here is the skid plate

Not yet (knock on wood). Only wheeled once with it.

My coils do the samething but Im not worried about it. I did noice how much your shock travels up and looking at yours, safe to say that mine maxes out on the uptravel, hince why my flex sucks and my rear does most of the flexing. Getting EB shock towers is still on my todo list (alone with a million other things).

Here is what I got done today...

Cut the coil retainer off the axle...

Then welded this plate to it....

Then welded the coil retainer on top of the plate, it's now centered on the axle...have the shock mount welded on too...

Painted....

All put back in, looks much better now.

After

Only took me 6 hours. Take it for a drive tomorrow and see how it does.

I also welded some skid plates to the lower control arm mount. I'll have to take a pic of it tomorrow

Thinking of lincoln locking the 8.8. What does everone think? It will be just until i get a locker.

Weld it up. But I would weld the spiders to the carrier also. I wouldn't want to put all that stress on just the cross pin. I welded mine and aside from chirping the tires while turning, which i like, I have no issues with it.

Lots of benefits with welding...

free
less parts to break
predictable
and free

In therory the front will sit higher now that the coil is straight. Took me 5 hours to do my headers.

i dont want to weld to the carrier. I want to be able to save it for when i do put a lockrite in it

reckon it's time for new leaf spring bushings?

Naw that ruin all the flex! Lol don't you have a ditch to flex in rather then the ramps?

find a ditch, you can really flex it out then...

Wow, Kris ya beat me to it

my b2 can do that flex...back when it was stock... on its awesome 225/70r15's! hahahahahaha
