Escorts 2nd SAS

Now to get her so that she is 4wd. I will say that was fast. But also being able to work in a garage out of all this raining weather and cold, it would make it easier, plus having all the parts made such as the track bar mount, link mounts, etc... would make it easier.

I think those are the 35 inch tires IIRC.

yep 35's. It was easier the second time. I knew what i was doing and all the enginering was already done. In all it only took 24 hours to do the swap.
As far as making it 4wd i need to look at getting a different transmission. Need money first. Might take a month before it happens.

Are those radius arms for a XJ or did you make them? I like the fact that you ran your brake lines along the link arms ,but where do they connect to the brake system that far back? I noticed no vacuum activator for 4WD on that D30,so does that one constantly turn the R&P? I have a D30 from an old 88 Comanche that I once owned that I will be using & wonder how I should go about eliminating the Vacuum activator & making it operate from a cable. Thinking of using the idle adjust cable system for semi trucks. I will be doing my SAS then later convert to 4wd. I already have the hardest item to find & thats the 2.3 4wd 5spd.

What transfer case are you using?

Those are ironman longarms, same ones I am using, he told me abouit them and I love them. The brakes (on mine at least) I ran new hard lines from the brake equilizer fitting and along the longarms. Since his D30 is a non-disco type, both axle shafts are turning at the sametime, making it a live at all times axle and also not having lock out hubs, the R&P will turn at all times(can have hubs put on but its pricey for the kit). I recommend getting rid of the disco. setup for strength purposes and just put a one peice shaft on its place and put a cover over the disco hole and also putting the axle seal on the inside of the pummkin instead of on the outter axle tube.

BTW, time to change your avatar picture. RIP 89.

i know its time for a new picture. I want to give it a bath and make it look nice for her picture.
More info on the sas look at my first build. Most of the info is on the first few pages

The transfer case i am using is a 1350 manual with the stx fixed front yoke.

Found a leak in one of the brake fittings when I got home from work... I hate doing brake lines.

Got some work done on it today. I reinforced the steering linkage, the one that goes to the driver side. It was the stock 1" tube. I welded a piece of 3/4" angle to the length of it to reinforce it. When I was adjusting the alignment on it, I noticed it had a slight bend to it. This should help it untill I get something else.

Gave it a bath and waxed it to. Looks really nice for a 93.

It's really up to you if you want the CAD. It will help in gas mileage, that's about it. If you plan on driving long distances and everyday highway use. Then I would keep the CAD. If you will have larger than 31" tires and want to wheel it hard, then you want to have a one piece axle instead of the disconnect. There are manual cable kits that do away with the vacuum actuator.

Another thing. If you are going to keep the 2.3. Then I suggest not having anything bigger than 33" tires on 4.56 gearing.

hope you dont mind me sayin, but i like it better than the first one

impressive work man!
u mind coming down here to SAS mine? LOL

Sure. I'll be right there. lol
