Escorts 2nd SAS

just a thought on your tire carrier for a temp fix make your tail gate swing open to the side and put a bronco mount bolted to the gate

That's an option I had thought of but I think as of now it will just stay in the bed. I'm running very low on funds being this close to Xmas and all.

Let me know if you sell you're current pitman escort, I maybe looking for one shortly... looks like it drops more than mine.

Thanks, I'm getting this and should be here soon.

I will let you know when I swap them out. Might be a few weeks though. Just don't have much time being so close to Christmas.

so goin leaf sprung. or are ya grinding the perchs off and welding on some brackets.

not sure but this might be the external lock (?) hub style HD44. not to familiar with them but from what i have ran across aparently the lockouts are hard to find. and it might have a flattop passanger knuckle (would still need machining).

If I ever do go with a 44 or even full width, I would use the iron man arms that I already have. Do something like what krousinoffroad did with his Mazda, just weld brackets and mounts to make them work. I see it done all the time so people could just bolt them up to their heep TJ's...

I have some plans to work on during my Christmas shutdown. I will have 12 days off of paid holiday so hopefully I get something done. I am having a bearing noise in the transmission. Hopefully its just a bad bearing and not something I forgot to tighten....there was one bearing I didn't replace on the counter shaft because the place I bought the other bearings from didn't have any and was a 2 week wait so I couldn't wait and put it back together with the old one.
Another I want to do is make new bumpers and a spare tire mount. My buddy will help me with the designing and bending of the tube and I will do all the welding. And, hopefully by spring time I will have a new winch, bumpers, sliders, and maybe a locker. A friend has a lockrite or somesort for the 28spline he will give me in return for helping him drywall his basement.

I have always wondered how hard it would be to run a Jeep D44 under a ranger. Doesn't seem like it would be that much different than any other D44 swap. It is basically still a radius arm setup and would require bolting/welding of two brackets back by the tranny crossmember for the arms.

But for whatever reason I am partial to Ford tech, and the radius arm setup with wedgies.

I wonder what the advantages and disadvantages are of the both when compared with each other? Other than Ford D44's are easier to come by for sale on CL ect.

For you welding some brackets on a D44 to work with your current arms would be a cake walk...maybe even a one day swap if you had all the parts ahead of time.

Jeep d44's would be easy. But it's just a glorified d30 IMO. It's not a lot of difference really. Uses same weaker parts. The axles are slightly larger with more splines and the ring and pinion is slightly larger. For the money (expensive) I don't think it's worth it. And you still don't get real hubs (manual lockouts)

Now I'm speaking of the TJ or jk d44. Sure you'd have 4.10's and a locker bc it'd have to be a rubi version. I'm not talking about a waggy 44.

Personally I would take the time and weld the brackets to a Ford D44 so that i can run my longarms. I think the hardest one would be getting the one on the diff.

Started the front bumper. Taking measurements and drawing up a design. I am going to model it after 97trailrigDD. It will be similar but have a few small changes.

I might need to fix this in the future.

Hope to have it done in a week or two.

Also will be ordering an XRC8 winch next week from Summit.

why from summit?

is 4wheelparts not cheaper? they offer that $50 warranty on them to, where they will fix or replace it instead of having it ship it off to SB.. might be worth looking into? idk.
