Escorts 2nd SAS

Summit has free shipping for me and haven't checked 4wheel parts yet. I might even order it from eBay and get some eBay bucks. Not sure yet.

Got the frame cleaned up.

Tomorrow I am going to go get some plate steel. The place I get it from even cuts it to what ever size I need at no extra cost. And for tubing, I will ne using 1.5" DOM. Not sure on the wall thickness but might be 3/16" ? Anyway I got 22' of it for free so I can't complain.

Hopefully the rubber body mount will be replaced too, if thats wasnt what you were pointing out. My todo list is getting longer but my v8 swap is at the top of the list.

Yep, that and the rust. I am thinking of just using some hockey pucks for now.

The place I get steel from is closed till Tuesday for the holiday. Guess I will have to wait to go any farther.

Cause now it screws up my plans for this weekend unless I can find some steel. Was going to get most of the plates welded to the frame this weekend. :banghead:

Truck looks good. Hows the bfg's pull Im looking at getting a set?

Pull? I take it you are asking how I like them? I like them a lot better than the KM1's. Handle good on wet roads and offroad so far.

Ok. I will have the money Tuesday to buy a winch. I just got a coupon for Harbor Freight badland 9k for cheap, $250 shipped. Or should I stick with the XRC8 that I have seen and heard from others that work well for a little over $320 shipped?

my vote goes for the xrc8.

I like my xrc8, I use mine a lot and it has never let me down. I would buy it again. But if I had it to over, I would find a quicker spooling winch like a warn.

Warn is expensive. But well worth the money.

if you wheel in the cold you may want to disassemble the planetary gearset remove the "grease" they use which is like wax and repack it with synthetic grease. Did that to mine as soon as it got cold and was a huge improvement.

the grease they use is crazy. couldnt even wipe it out with a rag. took awhile to get it clean in a partswasher. the solvent seemed to have no affect on it initially. just worked at it and got them clean repaced it using as much synthetic as i could get to pack in there. worked flawlessley and smooth now.

if I had to do it over again i would buy the xrc but if the money was available i would go with synthetic line tho.
