Hello I am new here and have been looking all over the internet for some help.

I have picked up a 1988 Ranger for free it is in great shape except the crank shaft bearing is blown. I have a 1990 Mustang engine that I hope will fit in the ranger. Both engines are 4 cylinder 2.3L. Will this work? I am wanting to do it because both the engine and truck were free and I need an old truck to get me from A to B for work. Has anyone done this or something similar? A friend of mine said this would work but I just want to make sure before I attempt it. Any advise would be great.

Thanks alot.

It will work. Use the oil pan from the Ranger because the Mustang oil pan won't work in the Ranger and also use the computer from the Mustang. If I forgot something, I'm sure someone will chime in.

Use the mustang longblock, and the ranger intake, oil pan and pickup tube (I've done this swap before), if you stay with the ranger intake, you won't need to use the mustang ECU, wiring harness, or other stuff, not to mention will save you a lot of headache and issues of running a different computer....Any chance you still have the mustang??

The Mustang body was used for a drag car they took the engine out and put in a bigger one with a turbo. Thanks for the help!!!

Happy trails
