Engine Squeal

Hey guys, so I have a vicious squeal that started around last week, and I've been trying to figure it out. I just changed the fan belt but the squeal is still there.so if y'all got any thoughts?

Is it a 3.0 ??? What engine ??????? some 3.0L had a oiling problem on the camshaft schyronizer that sounded like a belt squeak,,,, if it is that stop driving it till it is replaced,, it runs the oil pump and can cause major damage !!!!!!!

Take the belt off and check your tensioner pulley, idler pulley, A/C compressor pulley and alternator. Rotate each one by hand. Makes sure they rotate smoothly with no side to side or up and down play. Check for play in the water pump shaft also.

It could be as simple as a bad idler pulley bearing.

If all that checks good, definitely look into the camshaft synchronizer.

belts on the 3.0 are notorious for squeaking. its usually the back side of the belt, specifically the areas where info is imprinted. they have different textures and give a repeating pattern squeak as those areas go over a pulley.
the test is simple, spray a small amount of water on the backside of the belt while running. if the noise instantly goes away for a while its the belt.
if the noise doesn't change, its something else.

interestingly, the noise can come-and-go with changes in temperature and humidity.
