Got my Ranger 4.0 last September with 150k miles on it. Just about a month ago the left cassette decided to give up, causing the dreaded timing chain rattle.
I am in the process of replacing my timing chains, guides, and tensioners and I noticed that the left side (driver's) cam, valve springs, etc are significantly more varnished looking than the right (passenger side).
Is this cause for concern? Do I need to try cleaning out the oil tube? Or is it likely that the passenger side had been rebuilt?
