My passenger electric window wiring has to be reversed to get it to work. Sometimes it will work fine, then I'll have to undo wires(have them twisted with twisties) and reverse em to get it to work again. Then every once in a while i have reverse the wires every time it goes up or down. Could it be a short somewhere?

So the switch doesn't work at all?

No it it does work, it's just I have to undo the wires and reverse the wiring to get it to go back up. Could this be a short somewhere in the system? And how could I find out where it is.

Switch should be a dual throw type. So when pushed in one direction--the current flow is at "UP" (or "Down") and reversed when pushed into the other direction. From the sounds of it? One half of the switch is dead, and you're reversing the polarity is doing what the switch should be doing.

Thanks, is there any way I can test it to make sure.

Sounds like you already did by reversing the polarity and seeing that the window works in both directions.
Time to hit the junk yard and look for another switch.

If your switch comes apart you can try cleaning the contacts as a last dich effort to revive it.

I'll kinda add to this. Considering I did this for my step fathers Toyota. Very small flat file. We're talking the ones for old school 'points'. That and a can of CRC electronic solvent (sold at WalMarts). If you're lucky and can get the switch apart without loosing any of the internal parts? Sometimes you can file down the contacts just a touch...clean the parts with the solvent..and you'll be fine for a while longer. I know LMC sells the switches. However best bet is the bone yard. Sometimes LMC's China stuff is crap--not to mention some of their prices would make OPEC blush.
