How do you know if the EGR SOLENOID is bad???? I have a 86 2.3 EFI :headbang:

On my '94, I shook it and no sound. I shook the new one and a little bit of sound, like a rattle. That is the best I can describe it. I had replaced the EGR valve and was still having problems. After I replaced the EGR solenoid, problem solved. Is yours located on the back of the intake manifold, facing the firewall?

re.... EGR Solenoid

hello, I was looking at my, and it is on the passenger side fender behind the air box on my truck... it has two plugs which are side by side, and also has air lines connecting to the bottom of it....

It sounds like mine, but in a different location.Have you done anything with it yet?

You can check if the EGR is working by looking thru the slots on the EGR valve attached to the intake manifold. With the engine running, increase engine speed over 2000 rpm, and vary the speed. Watch the valve diaphragm thru the slots, and you will see the diaphragm move the pintle back and forth as you change engine rpm. If it doesn't move, you have a problem somewhere. Of course if it moves, no problem.:)shady
