Are there true tracs or posi rear aftermarket differentials available for the 19-21 Ranger

Not that I've seen from quick searches. Some jeeps and possibly even the Colorado(?) have the same axle though, and apparently have lsd options available for them.. its just a matter of if they'll work with the ranger axles.

I may be mistaken here, so take this with a grain of salt. From what little information I've seen on the ranger axles for the new truck, I believe Ford welded the ring gear to the carrier in the axles that do not come with a locker. Now that may be only for the front axle but I would find that out for sure before you buy anything and find out the carrier can't be swapped. @adsm08, @Jim Oaks, or @19Walt93 might know or maybe not.

Haven't found any aftermarket for them, the newest that Eaton is showing is for 2018 vehicles, which leaves out the Ranger completely.

I have also heard the ring gear is welded to the carrier, probably exactly for this reason so it cannot be modified have to order Ford's locker when you purchase the truck new. Not sure how their factory lockers are and who their source is either...somebody around here probably knows though. The factory locker is electric I believe, that's about all I know about it.

If you are going to swap the carrier, you are going to have to reset the lash and maybe even the pinion depth anyway.

Wouldn't be a bad time to swap in shorter gears, just do the whole thing at once. Probably not cheap though

Its not cheap, and the eaton tru trac requires resetting the backlash on the ring and pinion anyways regardless of changing gear ratios...not sure what the Rangers have for gear ratios now but I'd think in stock form it would be fine keeping them stock, yeah maybe if you are doing a huge lift with huge tires regearing would be necessary but right now it seems there's nothing out there for aftermarket support for gearing and locker & limited slip options. Maybe in a few more years but then again the Ranger has been back since 2019, so going on 3 years....maybe I guess it'll be like the Rangers and Bronco 2's were in the 80's and up where the aftermarket didn't really seems to care about supporting them.

Looks like ARB has a rear locker option for the current Rangers. Part #: RD245 with note #11: "When installing RD245 an aftermarket ring and pinion set to suit JL Jeep Wrangler Rubicon version M220 differential is required due to Ford welding ring gear". So with that, I guess its true that Ford welded the ring gear on the carrier in the current Rangers.

Good god why?

Cost, somehow.

The factory locker is electric. Who makes it, no idea.

The 2019+ Ranger only has one gear option 3.73:1. I have seen no aftermarket support for the new Ranger axles. It may be lack of interest, welded ring gears, or a combination of both. So far, I've found the gearing to be fine. I think because they actually put an engine with enough power in the truck from the start.

Tire options at the moment are limited as well because of the suspension design. Anything wider than 265/70R17 tires are going to require spacers unless someone can find a compatible rim with a deeper off set.

There is an aftermarket bash bar set out there that may allow taller tires but that won't give clearance for wider tires.

I don't remember seeing anything more than a leveling kit as far as lift options. I have a sneaking suspicion on this one that I've seen at least one but I'm not sure. So, I don't want to be raising anyone's hopes with a figment of my imagination.

I’m just figuring if someone is going to go through the effort of putting lockers in, they either already have bigger tires or are going to put bigger tires in before long.

So if you are going from 29”s to 33”-35”s, 4.10s, 4.55s, 4.88s would be the best bet anyway.

So there IS a work-around. That's good news.

With how the truck drives with 3.73s, I think 4.10 of 4.56 would be a good match for 33"-35" tires. They come from the factory with 30"-31", so not a huge step like it is with the original Rangers. 4.88 might be too much.

I've never heard of a ring gear being welded to the carrier and don't believe Ford would do that because it would cost them more to fix one under warranty. If you installed a limited slip you'll need to reset the backlash and preload, the pinion depth won't change unless you change gears. If you modify it and it fails Ford most likely won't cover the repair. A Posi is what Chevy called their limited slip, we don't talk chebby here.

Sounds like it, just a lot of extra $$$ on top of the locker LOL. Cheaper to just order the truck new with the factory locker LOL. ARB Front Locker Part #: RD219, no notes on it so looks like the front would be a drop in...pretty stupid Ford had to go and weld the rear ring gear and carrier assembly. At least I guess there's an option, and probably more if you could source an aftermarket non-welded ring gear and carrier.
