Hey all,

I have the Eaton Detroit Locker that has been in my 8.8 for about 2 years. I daily drive the truck and wheel it at least 2 weekends a month. I have always had the occasional crack and clunk that shakes the whole truck and pulls it one way, but this would only happen about once or twice a week. Over the past two days it has cracked and clunked every time that I floor the gas pedal even when going in a straight line to get on the highway. It also will clunk multiple times while accelerating only seconds apart. Does anyone know what may be causing this recent change in performance?

I google searched and searched the forums and most people just repost the clunking warning from the website. The clunking isn't my concern, the recent change in frequency is what I'm concerned about.

An occasional clunk (more like *BANG!*) while accelerating indeed is normal, but it happening repeatedly is not.
My guess is something may have become worn or damaged internally. Unfortunately the only way to find out for sure is to disassemble and inspect things.

wild guess,,,air pressure different in rear tires? hey, at least it's cheap.
