[Iron Ranger]

Last month, I e-mailed trucks! TV on doing a v8 swap into a Ford Ranger, seems like something everyone would really like to see. They did an S-10, but I told them there are more out there trying to do the ranger swap

I never expected a response, but I got one from Kevin the co-host. He told me that this is a very sweet website and they are wanting to do a ranger v8 swap, one problem, the economy. I assume that vendors won't give up free goodies for extreme performance mods, he told me thats why they are sticking to budget builds(New eps. on March 28th). When things pick up, then they'll do the high mod show and probably a ranger v8 swap.

I usually don't do this sort of thing, but I think it's time for some TV show to do this swap and answer a lot of questions for viewers. Plus, it would put some major recognition into this great site that Jim has maintained.

Awesome, however, I would e-mail them back and see if they would do a budget build of a v-8 swap. Most of our members do it on a budget, and thats the kind of build I would like to see. Any jo-schmo can drop 10 grand into an engine and shoe horn it into a Ranger, I would like to see them do one that is within reach for most of us. Then they can go back and do their big dollar, big numbers performance build.

hell i'd buy the spindle lift kit if they would come get my truck and put it on..just make sure the film crew got as many shots of my trs winshield banner as possible..

I'll provide my truck, the V8, the AOD, the L&L mounts, an Explorer 8.8, and the Mustang EFI system, computer and harness.

Of course my V8 won't be the pretty ones they usually show. It'll be the 302 I already have.

Only thing additional would be the trans to t-case adapter, and if they're doing the labor I'll pony up and buy it too.

Edit: Oops. Forgot headers. I have some cast iron Maverick manifolds that'll work. Once again though, not pretty.

Or would I be better off getting the AOD and t-case from an F-150?

They're in Nashville, right? Only 4 hours away.

I'm serious.

Email him back and see if they wanna come help with mine. I already have most everything to do it. All I need to buy are the headers, mounts and oil filter relocation kit. I have the whole car that the engine is coming out of so I have all wiring, electronics, etc. And I'm not that far from them, about 3 hours.

Back in the early 80's i called hooker to see if they made a swap header. They told me if I could get my truck to California they would use it for a prototype.

im always posting links to t.r.s. tech pages when im at other sites, its alot better than me trying to explain something, and theres usually pics to look at too, so far no mods have complained. id donate my ranger for a 302 swap, dont have a motor or trans/t-case though. i might be able to make the anniversery, got laid off a week ago, been looking for work, not much luck. its bad out there. (and i was with a honda supplier!)
