I posted earlier about my tranny maybe being on the brink. Thanks for the responses!

What is the best way if I go this direction? I don't think they allow you to bring a jack in?

Bring in a ratchet strap and tie it off to the frame to hold it in place as you take it loose. Hell it's only a junkyard.

we kinda just let it drop, as the pan already had a drill hole in it but the explorer was fairly low so it didn't dent the pan or anything.

Thats not a good place to drop a tranny... someone might.. Oh you mean a transmission...:icon_rofl:

usually you can't take a jack in (if they see it....)

rachet straps work well.. or just manhandle it, they ain't really that heavy. My dad and I dropped a few pretty easily just by holding it up (with 2 people).

If you're worried about just dropping it on the ground, find a nearby car with a bad back seat and pull the bottom cushion out to drop it on. It'll help absorb the impact. Don't be the ass the pulls the perfect seat apart though.
