yeah thats gonna be a problem lol i was thinking of making some to fit the radius arms and welding them to the axle would that be a bad idea ? i dont know much about welding to axles so
I'd suggest leaving the radius arms in the same spot but moving the lower coil bucket. I guess just drill two new holes in them moving them inward towards the frame. I didn't like that idea so i moved the wedges (not an option for you!) and also it moved the radius arms in and I gained more tire clearance.
Both of those welds look like they have zero penetration and a lot of porosity. Did you do that with a 110v MIG? I would cut that off and redo it. Also, remember that you are welding to cast steel, which requires preheating! This is a pretty critical part of your build and you really do not want it to fall apart.
I would make your bracket a smidge longer and weld it to the tube. Mild steel is much nicer to weld on. I would look into a heavier welder for projects like this. Those welds there a putting your life and others lives at risk if you plan on driving this thing on the street.
ya your weld does suck, but you have a bigger problem. I see you have the bracket bolted to your radius arms and then welded to your axle. Those radius arms are made so they can move a little bit. That is why there are big C bushings. Something is going to give. Either your weld brakes or your bolts that go into the top of your radius are will snap off. You may want to rethink how you do that.
sorry iv been REALLY BUSY i ended up haveing them re-welded by a shop with a bigger welder but no the truck isnt for the streets its always on a trailer if its not on a trail but everything has held up nicely no problems i went to a swap meet and found 8inch lift springs for the year and axle type that the axles came from and i ended up useing those but i hade to make a new steering arm which wasnt relly that bad and the second time i took the truck out i let my buddy drive and he ended up folding my front driveline in half no fun in the middle of a hole
