Few days back my F150 starter went out so I hopped in the ranger to use for a few days until the starter came in from the parts order I made online. About 30 miles out I took off from a red light and the gear shifter lifted out of the floor 2 inches and torqued over on me. Knew immediately it was the driver mount so I order both online and just drove the truck "nicely" for once in it's life until the new mounts came. Got it changed tonight and looks like I tore it up pretty good with my John Force style driving. :D

I've broke a few myself... but I'm talented enough to break the passenger side mount only :).

160k when it went, but I did just put a new top end on it 1k miles ago so it's been running really strong as well. The combination of fresh engine and age seemed to be too much.

Breaking the pass mount is talent. That's gearing down hard or a lot of mountain driving or off roading using engine braking.

Yea i have been through 4 of the d/s motor mounts. If you never want to blow another one just get yourself 3 hockey pucks, drill 1/2 hole in the center and run a 1/2 bolt through where the mount used to be.

I remember that day very well, I was 15 miles from home when I also snatched 2nd gear leaving a stop light. My engine tipped to the passenger side, pinching my shifter against the floor, making it impossible to shift gears. I had a 15 mile journey in second gear screaming down the road in traffic.

Well, this just proves that your timing IS set to the right setting, giving you the max amount of power that your engine can dish out.

Glad you had to have fun driving to discover it broke something. :icon_thumby:
