I have a 94 4.0l ranger 5speed manual transmission. My truck keeps destroying DPFE sensors and no they are not the plastic one I’ve only been getting the metal DPFE sensor. I’ve read that they are a hit and a miss but I feel like something is making them go bad. Truck isn’t running bad. I feel like it gets a little warm needle is on the M of normal. This has been my only problem since I got the truck. Replaced 3 already.

By DPFE, do you mean EGR pressure sensor?

Have you tried a Motorcraft brand name one?

No it’s a duralast sensor and I paid like 58$ for it so it’s not cheap to just keep replacing. So far Ive just been taking it back in to get a warranty replacement and it’s the third one. The last one lasted a month and a half this one I literally just replaced it two days ago and it’s already throwing the code again. It passed California smog with the last one also. Sensor went bad a little after smog and yeah. At least I got it to pass California smog. Where can I find the motor craft brand at?

Rock auto is a good source. Theres a discount for TRS as well.

There’s not much that can make it go bad. It senses differential pressure across an orifice in the egr tube and puts out a signal that can be used to calculate the amount of egr flow. Then the egr valve is told to open or close to regulate that flow. This sensor might be one if those parts that is best to buy Motorcraft (Ford) brand. Motorcraft will actually test the part to make sure it is good before selling it. Not many aftermarket companies do that. Hence the price difference.

Well, right there is your problem......u are shopping at Autozone! I guess if u don’t mind wasting your money on garbage.....

To be fair, I've never had a Duracrap part last more than six months

I bought four thermostats from Advanced auto at different times. Not a single one worked.

Seen a puff piece in HotRod Magazine saying Duralast parts where hot shit and better them OEM. Solid chuckle from that for sure.
