I've heard a couple times that you should have your truck in 4wd mode while on payment? Something about the wheels not all turning at the same speed or something? Can someone explain this, and is it for all 4wd trucks?

I'm not sure about that, but I've heard of people burning up the transfer case from running 4WD on pavement for too long. Why would you want to?

Running 4wd on a dry paved road will cause the front driveline to bind. When driving in snow or dirt, the tires can slip do the decrease in traction. On dry pavement, the tires will not slip causeing a binding in the driveline. You have no reason to use 4wd on dry pavement, so dont.

doesnt all depend if you have a locker or if it is a open diff?

It doesn't matter if its open diffs, l/s diff, or locked diffs don't use 4x4 on dry pavement. It will tear up you t case as the driveline will bind up especially while turning

the transfer case makes a 1:1 solid connection between front and rear. When you turn, or have slightly different tire diameters (different pressures even), the front driveshaft will try to spin at a different speed than the rear, and the friction between tire and pavement will not allow the tires to slip and relieve this.

AWD transfer cases use a viscous coupling that allows different speeds front vs rear.

Diffs allow for speed differences from left to right. As explained transfer case does NOT allow for differences front to back...

NO!

My buddy just blew up his front pumpkin on his blazer doing that. He left the 4WD on and had a 235/70 on one side and a 235/75 on the other due to a mistake at the tire shop. Now he needs a new front axle...

DON'T DO IT!

thats why manual hubs are the way to go over the auto's. you can use 4 low in 2wd mode then for backing a trailer or other low-speed events where 1st or rev isnt low enough ground speed in 2H. i just wish i could split shift from L to H when my trailr is fully loaded. have to pull out onto the road, stop, get into 2H and then get going again.

Yeh I use 2Low all the time with trailors to take the ease off of the drivetrain.

So why doesn't posi-trac (true positrac)bind up and get all shot to shyt?
