I was talking to our old friend and journalist Jim Allen. Jim has written several books on trucks, Jeeps, Scouts, offroading, and differentials. He's also written numerous magazine articles.

I had received an email from him in which he stated:

Jim Allen said:
I'm mainly living in the past and doing vintage truck stuff, or tractor stuff. In fact, if you know of someone with an early Ranger/BII (1st Gen, preferable an ’83) that’s still bone stock and in good original or restored, I’d be interested in doing a feature on it if he’s not too far away.

Jim is located near Lima Ohio. I think good original or restored first generation Rangers and Bronco II's are pretty hard to come by. But if you think you have a Ford Ranger or Bronco II that he would be interested in, post a photo of it here. If it looks like something he would be interested in, I'll relay the information to him.

1qaz is one that comes to mind... dunno for sure where he is though.

Im only 3 hrs from lima but...

Do you have a nice stock 1st Generation Ranger or Bronco II?

Pretty much disqualifys me.

1987 XLT, 2.3L, 5 speed, stock as it came from the factory (minus the wheels)...Marti Report in hand. Restoration is on-going...significant details included in build thread.

Picture was taken three weeks ago. If Mr Allen is interested, please have him PM me.

I have a 83 beater i put a posi rear with a non feedback carb and the duraspark ignition in a 2.8 with the C-3 auto. Hes not real pretty but am getting 18mpg and no problems with a full load of dirt. A bone stock 83 with a working computer would definately be a rare find if there is one out there. Maybe the four cylinder 2.3 with a standard transmissin would be the best bet.

My Ranger is nice (except the roof). It is not stock.

I have a pretty nice '90. It's not perfect, has rust in the usual places, but it's nowhere near as bad as my '91 was. The debate is whether 1990-1993 is second generation, or just a refresh of the first generation (wikipedia says it's a refresh).

will I guess you can count me out of this one guys....

89-92 was always regarded around here as 2nd gen.
