I have a 88-92 2.9l motor. I'm told it would be easiest to use a 2wd trans. Is it true that 2.8l, 2.9l and 4.0l engines use the same bell housing making the 2wd transmission swap an easy bolt up? Will the 2wd trans from a 3.0l bolt up as well to my 2.9l?

Can anyone tell me what year and model trucks i need to look for inorder to get the right transmission?

Thanks guys.

A 3.0L trans will not bolt up to a 2.9L.

The 2.8, 2.9 & 4.0L are the same bell however, though the 4.0L ratio set is a little taller (1st, 2nd, 3rd).

Got it! Thanks. So what vehicles should I be looking for as far as usable 2wd transmissions?

what are you using for a transfer case?

A geared samurai tcase... 6.5:1
