Distributor options for DuraSpark swap

I will inform this forum. Funny thing happened to me this weekend; I went to two junkyards near me. Saw 11 Rangers, 5 or 6 BIIs, no Mustang IIs, a Pinto whose entire engine was missing, and believe it or not- a Capri! You never see those here in America, at least not around here you don't... Of course the carb and distributor on the V6 were gone...
Which Capri? The mercury fox body Capri, or the euro import Capri?

Don't care about the fox Capri, but wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of those older import Capris. Never happen, but wouldn't mind if it did.

I can't be 100% certain about the years, but it looked like a 1973 USA spec. Certainly LH drive. Very rusty, in a lot of places.

I had a friend whose dad had a red Mercury Capri. He had just gotten finished waxing the thing by hand and his son, my friend, decided to throw the bucket of used water back onto the car just to get a rise out of his old man. I gotta say, I would never condone it, and I would be upset too, but man was it at least funny to listen to a grown man sound like Mickey Mouse when he started yelling lol.

I have an update.

This morning I received a package which contained a Cardone remanufactured 30-2691 distributor. I was skeptical it would come, maybe it was an inventory error, but it wasn't. The source?

Rock Auto.

I specifically remember checking for a 1978 Ford Pinto 6-cylinder Distributor a week before I found this on Saturday. So it just happened that between two weeks ago and a week ago, Rock Auto added the Cardone to its inventory. In another week or so, I'll pop into O'Reilly and see if they have any updates on Cardone restocking the dizzies.

So if you are still looking for the semi-unicorn, keep checking your parts stores and Rock Auto, because this is a clear case where the inventory changed from one week to the next! I will also be updating the Bronco II forum on this.

Hold the phone.

The connector shown in the Duraspark Conversion guide is not going to work for the Cardone 302691. The general shape of the Napa part is correct, however, the fins that guide the sockets in securely do not match up at all. I've attached three images to illustrate this. The first image is the pigtail that is being advised to use as an option. The second picture is what comes on the Cardone unit's pickup coil- NOTICE that the fins on the first one will not match up to the channels on the second. Then the third picture I found online will presumably fit- I found it on Painless Wiring's Duraspark wiring harness.

Just a heads up is all. I'm currently searching for that pigtail.
