Distributor option

If it's black/yellow (more black than yellow) then it went to the A/C compressor clutch.
Well i already have a single wire ran along my ac line that goes to the compressor, i thought thats what signals it to kick on and off. I traced the yellow and black wire and it looks like it runs to the passenger side solenoids/relays, not sure if it had something to do with the tfi or not

as for my ranger i mean everything on the carb worked afaik, idled and ran on its own just has a hesitation at WOT, rebuilt carb and replaced fuel filters and stuff and no difference. I figure it might be something with the timing advance failing possibly?

A hesitation at wot? Describe exactly the symptoms. Are you at a stop and then punch it to the floor? Traveling at 30mph and then punch it? Something else?

its a manual, driving or idle when you go WOT, it will cut out for a brief second then pick back up. if you slowly step on pedal its fine. I understand this could be a carb issue with the primary jets however upon inspection primaries and secondarys seems to function just fine, unless thats something you cant "diagnose" by eye. Either way im replacing the carb and whole ignition system so it doesnt really matter at this point.
im more concerned about fixing these damn oil leaks.

Sudden acceleration bog would most likely be the accelerator pump not adjusted properly or the (it may be leather) diaphragm worn or dried out.

Is your PCV system working? That would be the little silver elbow stuck in one of the valve covers. With the engine idling, you should be able to pull that out of the valve cover and put your thumb over it, and it will suck on your thumb if it's working. This pulls all the nasty stuff out of the engine and burns it. And since it also puts some suction on the interior of the engine block, it can aggravate engine leaks if it's not working.

Yup replaced PCV

I replaced the pump and diaphragm, cleaned out carb and still same thing. Alot of the vacuum lines for the tfi are broken so i figure its a spark issue and not a fuel issue

My understanding is that parts dry up after so many years, and then another company comes along and buys the moulds and the tools to produce parts after a period of parts drought. A case in point was a few years ago, a friend of mine was rebuilding his 1987 Camaro Iroc and needed a new radiator. Well, he couldn't source one (now he can if he wishes). I think he wound up using a radiator from a 1500.

I'm a little surprised that this kind of part has been a little slow on the uptake, but it's not exactly in high demand here in the US of A either.
