disciplerocks's Ford Focus "build" thread

Thats a good point. Thanks John.

Worked on the steering column today. Got it pretty close to complete. Also put the interior back together. All I need to do now is modify the shifter so it sits back about 2".

Also did some sound deadening around areas I had to modify and cut before putting carpet back. Poor man's Dynomat (roof flashing).

Dash looks good.

and if it works, it works, I hadn't thought of using that for sound deadening, and it's cheap, so I'm going to steal your idea for that one.

I might just steal the idea too.

Not my idea, just a simple Google search. Feel free to use it.

I'm not hating on the roof flashing idea, but be warned that it uses an asphalt based backing, which can give off quite a strong odor, which can get worse as it gets hotter in the summer. If you aren't concerned with the smell, then ignore me!

But the car looks good man!

Burnout. This thread is worthless without burnout.

Today I welded in O2 bungs. Added 2 to each side in case I add a wideband or something later. Filled the holes with junk O2s.

Tried to make the belt routing work with serpentine belts I already had. Here are 2 scenarios. I like the first better, but I will need one a tad shorter. The second works as is. Also got another t-stat housing.

I think I finally got enough clearance to keep the stock Focus fans as well. I can use the Focus ECU to control them.

Bypass the air pump on the bottom left of the picture. You don't need it and will probably bypass it later.

Thats not the smog pump, its the stock Zetec ac compressor.

Patience good sir

You haven't checked my Ranger's build thread today, have you?

I used up all my patience for the day on a set of head gaskets and destroyed push rods.

That's a negative. I was supposed to change a head gasket on my buddies Dodge today, but it didn't and I couldn't be happier.

Changed the exhaust a bit so it wasn't running next to the fuel lines.

Had to cut the e-brake bracket out for the drive shaft.

Also filled the trans and wrapped the shifter and floor in the sound deadening material to help with the hole I cut in the floor.
