Ranger: 1985 RCLB with 2.8 V6 and A4LD automatic.

Does anyone have a source or part numbers for the dipsticks and dipstick tubes for the 2.8 V6 and A4LD transmission?

I've looked on eBay and come up empty. Any help is appreciated.

TIA, Dave.

you might have to get one of the generic dipsticks and tubes from one of the sport shop sites like jegs or summit and than cut them to match the old one

I kind of think that any V6 A4LD dipstick and tube should work? Up to '94 at least anyway. Not sure about the 4 cylinder A4LDs. Junkyard item, for sure.

The problem is that I don't have an old one for the tranny, it just has the short stub that the dipstick tube fits into. I have a dipstick for the oil sump but the tube is mangled and the dipstick won't slide thru it anymore.

Yeah, finding 1st/2nd Gen Rangers in Chicago-land is getting harder and harder to do. But, that's something I'm going to have to consider.

Yeah, they all are unfortunately getting scarce around here, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Ranger and first for Explorer. And forget about Bronco II

Bronco648 I may have one! I will look this evening and let you know! At work unfortunately, got called in at the last minute!

Got a tube haven’t located a stick! I haven’t checked the local pick n pull lately. Been a couple of weeks lol! They had some exploders and couple of ranger auto’s out there!

Try and let me know if you haven’t found one before the weekend! I’m sure they have it!

Sorry for the late response. I'll be happy to buy (or trade for) the dipstick tube (and dipstick, if you managed to get one). Let me know if it will fit in a poster tube as that may be easier to ship. If not, a narrow box is fine.

THANK YOU!

I can both literally and metaphorically say I once found my dipstick in a junkyard.
