Whats the deal with the after market chrome diff covers not fitting. I have a 8.8 28 spline axle and i cant find one to fit right. I got one a few years back and it hit the ring gear and it was still about an inch away now i just ordered one from summit and same thing but this one is only about a quarter inch away. When ordering it said for Ranger, Mustang, F-150. Its aggravating to drain all the oil and then find the thing wont work and i really want one so if any one knows where to get one that will fit let me know and i just want a plain chrome one nothing fantasy. I know someone has to have one out there i just cant find it

send that crap back and tell them to send you another one. or, clean up the old one real nice, sand it down and get some high heat chrome paint and make yourself one. 2 hours worth of prep/paint and a $6 can of spray paint.

why not get something that will protect, ruffstuff cover. You could always get it dipped if you really wanted a chrome cover

People apparently don't realize 28 spline 8.8s have the mating cover face about a ½" closer to the ring gear than 31 spline 8.8s.

Yeah, get the Ruff Stuff cover. It should have sufficient depth to clear the ring gear (same goes for most of the aluminum ones out there too).

I have a ruffstuff cover, and can vouch for no clearance issues. Also that sucker is rugged as all get out, its real beefy. Way worth the money if your truck ever goes off pavement.

Hey I got a ruffstuff cover, just waiting to get my locker install one of these days.
I'm wondering if any of you know the bolts size and length when installing this cover.

Thanks. I should have ask for the thread count also, metric or sae?
I want to gather everything I need before the installation.

The cover should have came with hardware...

Mine neither. It only came with extra drain plug screws which I almost missed in the packages.

Huh weird. Mine came with hardware as well, but then again I paid for the flush mount hex head hardware.
