Did Ford try to sell you an F-150 instead of a Ranger?

I remember hearing or reading that most, if not all, of the Twin Cities Plant was being torn down and the real estate being sold off.

EDIT:

I guess "redeveloped" can be interpreted as sold off, or Ford building something new there.

Well there goes that theory... :dunno:

that sucks , one of the favorite sites i came across over the years was this - http://www.actionsquad.org/ford.htm - it showed alot of the history of the plant , history that will be lost now

I think everyone here could say they'd love the global ranger. The main thing I loved about my ranger was how small it was. At times I needed bigger, but that wasn't an issue. I didn't buy it for towing, or to move my family around. It was a simple truck to get around in and have fun. Only thing I hated about it was the gas mileage I got with the 4.0 and the mileage everyone else "claims" they got with same. 12 mpg vs others getting 20+? I just can't imagine getting that good of mileage with a 4.0. There are many roads ford could if went. Now we are stuck with what they chose to do. Get rid of it. I don't think many here buy brand new rangers anyways. But in 10 years from now, who knows what ford will have. I will hopefully have my explorer still, probably on it's second engine. Who knows. Nothing is certain.

I do wish they would have canned the 4.0 poked the 3.7 or even 3.5 in the Ranger towards the end just to see how that would have changed the sales.

This, and giving a 4 door option would have saved it

Depends on the F-150 you want to get... they make 'em in all flavors.

this is for a super cab the only option I added (not included in the XLT convenience group) is eco boost

that is for a Super Crew

I did not add any option that would not have been available on a Ranger 'cept ecoboost and super crew

comparably equipped Ranger

The new global ranger crew cab 4x4 diesel XLT package costs $53,390 AUD. In U.S. dollars thats roughly $51,600! If I had this money I'd be looking for a powerstroke.

And if you take off two of the more expensive options you can get on a F-150 you find yourself with 100hp and a lot more truck for not much more money. It is late and I can't get the links to work right, 8' box 3.7 was $27k and the scab 3.7 was $35k. Standard cab '150's have a fair amount of room for gear behind the seat too, probably nearly split the difference between a std cab and scab Ranger not accounting for the difference in width.

Or you can wait a couple years like I do and buy a nicely equipt F-150 just out of warrenty for the same price as a new Ranger.

I know my 97 F150 purchase was on a much smaller scale (monetarily) than what everyone is talking about. But this is really what it boiled down to for me. My Ranger was a great truck, and I miss it immensely. But I needed something more capable. It holds more people, more cargo, and has a lot more power. My insurance went up a whopping 50 cents a month, and replacement parts prices were very comparable. I sacrifice a bit at the pump, but that's a price I have to pay.

Nope. I went there to TRADE IN an F150 towards a ranger, so they kinda knew trying to sell me another F150 wouldn't work well...I went in, drove a v6 extended cab for $25000, and they kept trying to push me into that ranger. I told the guy I didn't want it, too many options. I told him What i wanted, where he could get it shipped from, and he had it there 2 days later. And I walked out with the ranger in my sig.

bringing the global ranger to the us is a big mistake. no american wants a unibody truck with a 3 foot bed. look at the honda ridgeline. do you know anyone that has one of those trukcs? no, because its not what americans want. ford will not bring the ranger back for some time, because like stated it will take away from f150 sales. i will never buy a truck like a the global ranger, i want a cab on frame truck with a live rear end.

I went in to look at focus's and rangers at a place dealing in mostly 2005-2010 cars/trucks. Guy told me Ranger's weren't worth buying. If I wanted gas mileage I should get the focus, if I wanted a truck I should go with the F150. I explained to him that I wasn't interested in any of the focus's he had on the lot (all were wagons and a couple sedans) and that the F150's he had were all out of my price range and too big for what I want. He (the FORD dealer) recommended to me that I look into buying a Tacoma or Colorado.

>.<

I ended up telling him that I'll "look around for a bit" and get back with him, ended up getting back with his superior. Explained to him that his employee just talked me out of a 11k dollar sale (for them, that's a modest sale) and that I will be doing business elsewhere from now on. The owner ended up sitting down with me in his office and going over some vehicles on his computer of his second dealership in Florida. He ended up going over on time by about 45 minutes showing me the vehicles (whatever, he owns it) and since none of his Zx3's in Florida fit my interest (all yellow or red, uck.) he told me to check back in a few weeks if I don't make another decision, and that he will try to get some graphite or toreador ones in. He even had his employee apologize to me, who said he didn't think I had the funds based on the vehicle I drove in with. Ha.

I came in with my friend Josh and his winter rat (1980's Honda Accord w/ 300k NY miles) since he had to make some stops in the area anyway.

Next time we'll take his 08 Dodge Ram. Wanted to save a little gas since the place was 50 miles away.

When we left, guess what the owner got in?

A GORGEOUS FX4 Level II. Bet that salesman got bitched out the next day.

Do your research first, the global rangers bed sizes are actually MUCH larger.

The regular cab, 7.5' long.
Super cab, 6' long
Crew cab, 5' long.

What your saying is redundant. If you want a 6' bed, which is what you HAVE already, get the truck with the 6' bed. If you want a crew, you have to make some sacrifices. I'm fine with a 1' loss for a second set of doors.

That is a damn shame that the only honest salesman in the world got into trouble with his superiors. Its true, the new Tacomas are worlds better than the new (old tech) rangers. If I showed up wanting to purchase an item, I would definately respect someone who would put their honest opinion of what they think is best for ME vs. selling me whatever they can to make some commission.

He didn't recommend a newer taco. He told me to get an older one, new ones run a pretty penny.

You know, the ones that rust in half up here.

Sorry, but I already have a crewcab dually. I have no need of an F150 and certainly not wanting to settle for a base model 4wd to get one the same price as a fully loaded Ranger..... The only thing Ford offers new that I am remotely interested in is a mustang or an E450 chassis cab with a long wb and scorpian diesel.
