Had mine a little over a month, very happy with it so far at around 3500km(2200mi. +/-). Besides my daily 60 miles total commute, Ive towed the snowmobile trailer on a 600 mile trip up north and a couple shorter local trips.

I was skeptical about this little motor being old school, but it towed great and has some balls when you tromp on it! So far besides the towing Im getting 21-22 mpg, it seems to be improving with break in, but with the cold up here its done a lot of idling and using the auto-start to warm up so I think it will improve with the weather.

Previous Ranger type vehicles- 84 Ranger 4x4 reg cab, 87 Ranger 4x4 Ext. cab, 92 Explorer, 01 Sport Trac, 10 Sport Trac. Ive had a Frontier since then, so its nice to be back in a Ford.

People keep saying "I want a V6..." before they even give the EcoBoost a chance. But as you found, it actually has some power to it.

I like the 20+mpg's, put a v-6 in it, probably be down to 18 pretty fast.

Thanks for the photos and info. Have you had issues with the recall situation?

My dealer called me about the shifter recall. Ive seen the document and it basically tells the mechanic to try to shift out of park without the truck running and no foot on the brake and if it moves, fix it. Ive tried every which way to get it to do that and its firmly locked, so Im no that worried about it.

They are doing my first oil change for free so I,ll likely wait till then to have them look at it since they are about 45 mins away.

Thats the only recall, there are a couple TSB,s but Ive had no other issues so far.

All said, I quite like the truck and am very impressed with the drive train after initially being skeptical like may others. Ive towed the same trailer with my buddys 2.7 F150 SCrew and I cant say this one is giving anything up to it.

I hope that MPG number goes up once the break in period is over. My 4.0 B2 is getting a few tenth over 21 right now.

I think it will go up once better weather gets here and Im not remote starting it to warm it up. I have a bit of a heavy foot too.

The 4x4 is rated at 24hwy, 20 city and 22 combined so its no that far off, but I believe it can do better.

It is a lot more vehicle than a BII.

Not out of line for a pretty much otherwise stock BII.

Thanks for posting first-hand reports about your new Ranger so far. I look forward to hearing more form other new owners as there may well be one parked in my own driveway in another couple years after my F-150 is paid off. I'm glad to hear you like it so far and that it's getting pretty decent fuel economy for you so far. When I do buy one it'll likely be an STX or XLT Super cab w/4wd. Lariat's outta my budget.
