Deep Fried Turkey!

We've done it the past 2 years. The first year we burnt the hell out of it. We still ate it. The second year it turned out perfect and damn was it good.

Ditto on getting it into the oil. It will pop and whatnot like crazy and you will usually always end up getting oil all over about a 3' radious of your cooker. We have a nice dead spot in the back lawn from it.

Good times though, and even better eatin'

Your're supposed to insert very slowly.......not drop it in:rolleyes:

OK.
I'll admit, I had problems the first year.
Had the cooker in the back yard on the lawn the wife tells me it might be safer to put it in the driveway just in case... Damn, sometimes I hate her know it all. Anyway, measured the oil the way the book said had the turkey all wiped down and on the hanger. Dropped it in and it was like a fricken volcano. The hot grease came spouting out of the center of the turkey and went everywhere. All over the ground, the pot and yes the driveway which was crushrun. The 20lb lp tank fortunately was on a very long hose. The turkey was great and I don't really care for turkey.
Naturally I had to hear the "Told You So" a billion times, so please be careful.

Deep fry

Every year many people set fire to their house or garage so DO NOT deep fry IN DOORS!!!

Happy holidays...... I mean MERRY CHRISTMAS dammit!

Get yerself a CHRISTMAS TREE and not a "family tree" like some stores are labeling.

Santa CAN say HO HO HO without OFFENDING some women and scaring children unlike some moron corporate store executive claims.

The first year we had it in the garage. If I were to go out now and open up the cabinets on the wall you could still smell the stench of the turkey frying....

Yeah we didn't 'drop' it in, we tried to put it in slowly, but it was bubbling all over the place. We ended up getting a 8' 2x4 and putting it thru the handle of the holder and two of us lowered it in from 4' away on each side..

i regularly deep fry game hens on the stove at home - i assume turkey is basically the same

utterly fantastic

yea deep fried turkey is the shit man. you can experiment with different injection like cajon butter or what ever you want. it is so moist on the inside and who can resist the crispy skin mmmm damn makes me hungry just thinking about it. good thing turkey day is only 4 day away lol. another thing you can try is deep frying and beef roast or tenderloin of venision they all come out good in the fryer. but like some one just be sure to monitor the oil temp. get it at least 10-20 degrees above where it should be becuase the cold bird will take away some of the heat and when it goes down it will be right at the correct frying temp. if it is too low the bird will be greasy and will not be crispy on the outside.

well i didnt get to deep fry my bird last year, but i borrowed a fryer so im gonna get it this year!

oh yeah, I got a turducken. going to use the rotisserie to cook it. Don't have the chedda for a fryer this year, the Damn Turducken was $85 shipped.

make sure its thawed before inserting it into boiling oil !

:headbang:

When I was a kid there was a place called Al's Hen House (original, eh) and they used a pressure cooker...it was THE best chicken I've ever had...

Haven't seen any restaurants offering this and not sure why...the pressure cookers are even better than the ones here because they are sealed...and nothing gets out because it is all done after the lid is sealed...

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the bird...but don't use canola (Canada Oil, eh) oil...unless you don't believe those rumors about mad cow disease...lol

+1000000000000000000000

A frozen bird going into the hot oil will be a trip to the ER and probably the fire dept spending Thanksgiving with you.

I would just like to mention that this is by far the BEST way to eat a turkey. It's soo dern juicy.
