I wish I knew how to put what people say in my sig.

I thought the steering was feeling a little sloppy yesturday so today I went to do my daily inspection and a cotter pin decides to fail and that allowed my bolt for my draglink tierod to want to unscrew a little. So got a better cotter pin put in and is much better now. I finally got to painting my exposed steel parts to my longarm mounts so hopefully they won't rust on me over this winter.

Will say I think my fuel mileage has gotten better, 60miles on a quarter tank.

Well, all the suddenly my truck has the death hopping in the front now, told its from my trackbar being to short. I posted a thread in the extreme suspension section about it. Any help is more then welcome on getting my truck driving safely.

i never had a problem with it. i was told that with the inverted wye steering it's hard to find exactly where the wobble could be coming from. and since crossover is bigger and better your better off to start with swappin that out if it's something you planned to do eventually any how...

just came about when one of the local jeep guru's was bench racing in my garage

start by checking to see if everything is tight, steering tie rods, ball joints, trackbar etc.
Your stock trackbar may be loose at the frame.

Well I checked a few things and my track bar came a bit loose, has very little movement but Im sure that all it takes. Going to go over EVERYTHING now and take her for a drive.

Problem with the new steering setup Im going for is $250 plus from ballistic fab. Im trying to save up for the holidays and whatnot, maybe after this next check we will see if Im going to get it or not. Being cold outside really modivates me to stay indoors, other then hunting.

Dont know the name of it but Im planning on the one tha has the straight bar running from knuckle to knuckle with adjuster on both ends so that it can be alined and run the drag link from the passenger knuckle to the pitman arm. I dont need anything complex when simple can get me by just a good.

As for the problems with the death wobble, think I fixed it. the trackbar was baddly loose so got that tightened up and welded the track bar mount to the frame better. Took it over bumps and railroad tracks and nothing happened.

I still havent gotten around to getting my driveshaft done, seems like more important things kep popping up and pushing it to the back burner. Right now Im helping my dad instal a new clutch into his truck

I'll write it down later but i think mine came in under 200 buck's and that included the 11/16'sand 9/16's drill bit left and right hand tap's and all the material's, not bad and i have some tool's to add to my collection. the drill bit's have came in super handy and use them all the time now.

Same setup as mine but im running .38 wall just over 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 O.D. IIRC. it has to be drilled out to 11/16 in order to thread to 3/4''

Im trying to figure out exactly which heims I need from rough stuff, like the exact ones and how many of left/right I need. I plan on going with the weld in bungs. Do they sell DOM tubbing, cant find it if they do, I would rather spport a TRS vendor if I can for all or as much of this as possible.

Do I have to drill out the knuckles for the bolt or is there a special type of fitting that can go into it so that I can bolt the steering up with out having to do that?

Any links to all of this is greatly helpful, start buying stuff now so I can dive right into it this spring (or sooner if needed to or if I get really bord this winter).

for just the steering (tie rod and drag link) you need two left and two right hand thread rod end's. You will also need four saftey washer's, and 4 high misalignment spacers.

If you do the trac bar as well you will need one more of each rod end. I also ordered a spare of each so i had one on hand if one started to waller out. As it turns out i have two very dusty rod end's in my garage, but it hasnt seen many mile's. for the trac bar you shouldnt need any misalignment spacers or saftey washers as the swing of the flex will be with the same direction as the hole and it will be captured in the bracket if the ball fails.

I think all my joints are 3/4x16 thread with a 5/8 or 3/4 end.

If you need i will get you some picture's as well. as for DOM i got mine from fastenall. i needed 120'' for my steering and trac bar I think list was 80 cents to a dollar an inch but i got a good deal on it since the company i work for has an account there. That is also where i got the tap's from the left hand thread one was like 70 buck's or something like that whereas the right hand thread was 15 bucks

this is all the stuff for my steering and tracbar you cant see two of the high misalignments since there sittin in the joint's

I'll go with weld inserts since my state doesn't care, plus it will probably be cheaper. But now I know how many rod ends I need. As far as a trackbar, I'll probably go after market on that and order myself one due to I have to have mine bent in a few places to work and I don't have a way to bend them. Does the length need to be the same eye to eye or the total length of the bar with all the curves and whatnot reletive to my draglink?

the draglink and trackbar should be parallel otherwise you will get some bumpsteer. The way your track bar bracket on the axle was setup is ideal for the crossover steering. Did you end up cutting that brakcet off the axle? If not then it will be much easier to make a track bar.
