dangerranger1983 build

Found out that the trans with the PTO is an sm465. Another great alternative to the np435.

Really wish I could find a PTO drive box for mine, why I'm not sure though.

The mother in law helped me back and forth to AutoZone and to jump my truck.

Running under its own electric power and tested by starting and restarting the engine.

Total time , 1 hour 45 minutes.
Total cost, $106.99 with the core brought in.

The past couple of days I noticed my dash lights and head lights weren't as bright as normal along with my idle being slightly higher due to my electric cooling fan not putting a load on my alternator dogging down the engine slightly. Good news is, this alternator had a LLT warranty. Bad part is, I only have a 65 amp one, want to get a 100 amp one put in.

You might look into doing a 3g alt swap if your FEAD allows it, will net you 130 reliable amps.

It happens...Is't it nice when Mother In Laws come to the rescue?

Mine helped me when a fuel line blew off of my truck a few days after I bought it. Dummies before me didn't put the clips back in the fuel filter.

This was the only alternator that matches my wire plugs, angle of mounting, etc...for what I have.

Plus I haf enough time to make it to work and only get a point on me, since I came in less then two hours late, out of 15 I'm allowed to get and will have it worked off in 25 consecutive working days I work.

If all fails, you can always get a Cheby 1 wire alt, they are easy to make to bolt up where a Ford alt is, if the price wasn't so high, I was going to get one myself.

Got a couple of things that I wanted to get fixed on the ranger done. Changed out two of the axle ubolts and now my axle wrap from having bad ubolts that I couldn't tighten is gone. Also rotated my fan and shroud so now the back of the fan motor isn't going to be able to hit the water pump pulley nub and the bolts plus the rad is getting cooled from top to bottom and not all of the top from side to side. The fab dues such a great job cooking that I can leave my hand on the rad when there hot fluid enters and I never have to take it off.

Bad part is, my fan stays on at all times because of the thermostatic temp switch (big term for the switch that tells the fan to turn on at a certain temp) sitting right after the thermostat in the hot coolant that she's in the hose because the rad can't take anymore so now I need to get 185 thermostat sui that the coolant will circulate more often plus my fan switch is made to turn on at 195 and of at 185 and in theory coolant higher then that will pass through to be able to turn the fan on. Only takes 12 seconds out so for the coolant to be cooked by the electric fan.

But until I can get my temp gauge in to add his hot the engine is, but going to touch anything. Couldn't get it in yesterday because the engine didn't cool down enough while I was doing the rear ubolts.

Had a 3 day weekend, had 3 hours to work on my truck.

Sorry no pictures atm but will get them, I was in that much of a time crunch.

Yep, that confirms you are a parent :icon_thumby: I know how that goes for sure. My days off are busier than the days I work.

Wasn't as much being a parent as I have workedd the last 4 Saturday's and what I planned to do for them kept getting pushed.

Pictures of the fixes...
New ubolts...

I was referring more to the part where I now get invited to and am expected to attend every family/friend event...

That too. Only one of me and enough stuff that at least three of me are needed.

Had a company pick nick thing at theme park today and decided to take the truck for a drive, total round trip was about 60 miles but I take a back way through the country so I had the twists turns, etc... She did great but had some problems with getting up and going when in 4th gear if I had to accelerate slightly, like 5-8mph when doing 45mph or so. Had hesitation really like the secondaries just didn't want to open, you can feel when they do but thus was more of a stuttering to do so. Well got back home and do my usual "long trip" inspection and saw the over flow tub from the rad (need to finish that) was/had been dripping, traffic in town sucked, but also was just running warmer then normal but still keeping cool. Need to get the temp change hooked up but also I have decided to hook the high speed setting of the fan to a switch in the cab just incase buy will also have to put larger gauge wiring on it since what it has heats up to where you can't touch it after awhile. Also thinking about an oil cooler too but no room in front of my rad so I will have to see if an auto trans choker with fan can work and if so find one that has 1/2 inch barbs on it. Other then that, only used a 1/4 tank of fuel for driving back and forth today so she did decent on mileage, have to calculate what it was, but was happy with how she drove today.
