dangerranger1983 build

i like the pic of it mushroom hunting, the member looks like its coming along killer too:icon_thumby:

i am planning to take mine mushroom hunting, after a trans swap this week. i keep putting it off:D....

personally, i hate the eb axles. i have them on the other truck and they suck. i dont mind the drums so much but the turning radius is an issue along with the weak ass stock 260 axleshafts. of course those can be upgraded with money which will happen sooner then later as i just killed the last spare shaft. i had a hell of a time getting the busted one out this time and the original one i replaced it with is spreading already:annoyed:

but my main steering issues are due to it being installed with a stock configuration, your arms configured properly would take the rub out of the equation a bit. they are 410 gears though, but perfect with the 36's and the 4.0 on the highway....with the street 33,s it gets a little revvy at 70-75 mph..

maybe if you find some fullwidths you can trade me if you dont want your rig to be a big fatass like my ol girl. i have to admit the bronco stays much cleaner with the wheels in the wells for some odd reason:icon_confused:

:icon_rofl:

so whats you got for the front shaft??

I can get the eb axle with or with out drums, my local yard has like ten eb just sitting. They have a ton of the 70s full-size trucks there so finding axles won't be a problem let alone the bigger joint shafts, hell they have a duce and half there just sitting with its axles under it still.

As for a front drive shaft, I got one that was already pulled from an f150 and was in its bed. It has been well taken care of from the looks of it since it has a sticker on it from a local driveshaft service place. For my application, it just needs shortened and new ujoints put on it.

If all goes well I should get a good chunk of the xmember done this coming weekend. May look ugly but looks don't get this truck down the road.

hell kid, you just listed a great reason for me to make a trip down there.

If I had the money I would snag me a couple of axles now. Their are right now doing a clean up of the place but haven't got to the back section where the good stuff is.

I would like to have a set of full size axles.

when I get my Ranger done and DD it, I'm going to start on my BroncoII, and do the 5.0 swap, SAS and 9" in the back, but I'm only going to go to 31's, or maybe just leave the 235/75/15 on it, but I do want to get rid of the plastic head lights and do a first gen front sheet metal swap.

Went to take the trash out and found this cold air intake on a dryer being thrown away...wonder how many horses it's worth?

I will be putting it on since currently my engine is sucking hot air from above the headers

I barely have time to do my xmember let alone a snorkel. This it's a free solution I will try and get to work. But a snorkel (and a million other things) are in my to-do list.

take the wiper access door off and stuff it in there....pull nice cool cowl air.

a nut driver...5 minutes and a ziptie.

My air cleaner can't rotate to fit like that. The way it's on my engine is the only way it can fit, it's an off center cleaner so that it can clear my dizzy. But also I don't want to run the chance of rain water getting in doing that way (trust me with my luck it WILL happen).

Remember, I didn't build my truck to be pretty, I built it to be more functional then stock form and all in a budget that can and does include a free solution to a problem and this is it.

Another thing is I want to find what wire will turn on the high setting for my cooling fan via toggle switch. I'm not over heating but don't want to have that happen.

usually one wire is hi one is low. black is ground.

seems wires are often yellow and orange on the big ones.

what relay setup you using?

It came with the giant Ford relay that originally runs it that also has a painless wiring harness as the entire harness. But I do wonder, dues the high only able to turn on when the low is running, that I haven't tried yet. I will dig and see what color wires the fan has on it to help out identify what is what.

Got more of the cross member done. I did get to testing if it will hold the weight of the trans and it does but im going to have it on the truck for a week to see how well everything will be with it before finalizing stuff. I did also find out which of my cooling fan wires is one for thr high setting so I will get that hooked and function via toggle switch since the low setting is automatically turned on by the coolant temp. I will need to get a new temp gauge to soon too to help with deciding when to turn it on manually.

Got it fabed up and about to join the two together.

Here's a crappy picture but you can see that the bolt that normally supports the trans isnt and was holding fine.

And the yellow/brown wire is my high speed wire.
