dangerranger1983 build

Fuel pump and igintion work as they should when the key is in the crank/run position now. Idled at 1200-1300 rpm with me tapping the throttle when it wanted to drop (didnt want to have to restart.

Have to wait till payday to get everything else I need such as a thermostatic temp sensor, longer lower rad hose, hood pins, rear driveshaft shortened (need to measure for that still), etc....

Now I need to read up on how to adjust my carb and whatnot so when that time comes, Ill know how to do that.

Got a longer lower hose and it fits but due to rain, I have to wait tool tomorrow to get the rad all hooked up.

Sounds like you're almost ready to test drive it! Get that hose on then start playin with the carb. I would have been playin with mine this week if so cal wasn't burning up. Maybe next week!?

I get paid tomorrow so I will have to make my final shopping list for what I need and also measure how much the rear driveshaft needs to be shortened and get it taken in a have that done. Have to fab up a crude exhaust too but have to buy a new chop saw blade since mine decided to shred itself or I would have started on it already.

there are two screws at the base of the carb, they should be set at 1-1/2 to 2 turns out to start with, once you have the engine running, turn the screws in till the engine runs a little ruff, then back out about 1/4 of a turn, then repeat for the other screw. and that should have your carb all setup.

Unless you want to play with the size of the jets, then your on your own.

I have a pressure gauge in line and I have it set to 3psi atm. Need to get this truck done faster now, ill explain later on why....

Oh I see! I had the same problems lol. Hope you get yours worked out way faster than it took me. I really hate havin to work on a budget. Post pics and give us lots of details!

Okay the engine idles but its off timing slightly and the water hose fitting that comes out of the intake is keeping me from turning the dizzy enough to get into timing so I have a few options. Either I take the dizzy out and move it tooth (its off a tooth anyways) or get a 90 degree fitting for the intake but the current fitting is steel and may be rusted in. Also when I go to shift the trans into a gear and let off the clutch it want to bog the engine down and wants to kill it and the trans wont rotate now so i will take the top off the trans tomorrow and look at that.

In the mean time, enjoy the video.

Also got the oil pressure gauge hooked, my old manual one, and on start up I am getting 50psi and after ten minutes of running I was at 35-40 psi. I have to get new heater hoses since mine weren't long enough and also my adaptor for the temp sensor probe broke on me as I was tightening the it down so I substituted a crud plug out of an old temp sensor off the 2.8. Didn't get coolant to circulate entirely either but I also need to put more coolant in the engine since some air did get out. Plus I made the idiot move of not drilling a small hole in the thermostat so burping the system is going to take longer then I want. Hopefully get up tomorrow, get the exhaust started, etc...

Oh and the other news that I was saving for later....I found out for 100% today that I'm going to be a dad.

Congrats dude!!!!

Thanks. Now I have to get another vehicle and more or less career change too.

Ouch! Guess you better get it going ASAP! Then you gotta buckle down, I feel for ya man!!!

Your intake looks like it is aluminum so it wouldn't be rusted in, it would just get that really nasty white corrosion if the last guy didn't use tape. Whats the worse that could happen, it break off? :icon_twisted:

I used a 90* fitting, mainly because I didn't like the hose going straight up when it really needed to go back.

Congrats on the wrench fetcher / blinding light holder too. :icon_thumby:
