dangerranger1983 build

Had to take the passenger header off to get the exhaust peice on due to the bolting flange would fit throught the under or top side. Also went inside to print out instructions on how to get my carb at a starting point for being tuned and the next thing I know it raining like hell outside. Whats worse is 10 minutes earlier my cousin suggested taking the pop up tarp down due to a few flames came out the carb and didnt want to burn the tarp up and the engine was exposed to the rain. But good thing my dad was outside to throw a towel over the carb until I ran outside to put the hood on the truck.

So due to it looks like more storms are on the way, tuning the carb will have to wait till tomorrow. And also looks like the engine isnt in exact timing either so I will have my dad to help out with that too.

That's why i like distributorless engines.

Doesnt help that my cousin doesnt know much when it comes to engines so as far as having him to help with doing stuff such as timing, hes not the best and doesnt really know what to do.

So when I get the carb adjusted and it running and warmed up, then i can set the timing myself then adjust the idle and whatnot from there and so on and so forth.

Also a coolant leak is coming from somewhere so i will have to track that down. Started leaking today around the back side of the water pump but like I said due to the rain, I cant really get a good look so I will wait till tomorrow, get it running and take another look.

Only things stopping me from driving is the thermostaic switch, which I order already and its on its way, and rear driveshaft. Other then that everything is there, just have to put the pieces back together.

Oh ya and get a complete exhaust setup.

Good thing about having a simple setup is no computer in the cab so I can in theory flud my truck up to the wheel wells.

in theory i can now submerge my truck untill my knee's are under water ( while driving) and all should be o.k. as long as it gets no deeper. soon i hope to be able to go hood deep without catastrophic failure, just the usual fluid flush and change at the end of the weekend/trip

keep in mind knee level is a about 48" im guessing if not more

Really want to get your base timing in before you start messing with the carb. You'll end up getting it going on bad timing, set the timing, then have mess with the carb all over again.

I agree with you Pete.

But I think you should get the exhaust done so you can hear it running.

I first adjusted the carb and that helped to get it running better then set the timing and then after that I set the idle a bit better and she idles nicely. My tach however still isn't working right so I will have to get another one.

The temp sensor switch won't be in till tomorrow so the wiring of the fan will have to wait until then. However I did get the front fenders bolted back on. All in all I'm a fan and driveshaft away from being able to drive, that is at minimum.

I bought a aftermarket tack for mine but it's not reading right. I have a Jacobs mileage master and a ultra coil though. I'm gonna need a resistor or somethin like that. I need to research it more but Jacobs has discontinued the box's I have so idk what to do about that.

Here's a picture of how she sits now. I'll get a better video of how it runs tomorrow with my internet tablet, my phone doesn't do such a good job.
