dangerranger1983 build

i do the same on the engine member as well.

sometimes i use a body saw though

I guess i should have been more specific lol, i meant the engine cross member.

Same deal, it would probably look better than a torque or plasma cutter. Drill a hole where you want the notch to start and where you want it to stop and then cut between with a cutoff wheel.

I used a plasma cutter, it worked great... but not everybody has access to one of them. :icon_twisted:

Should have taken a picture of how I put the slots in the engine cross member and transmission cross memeber but didnt. I used my angle grinder and cut the slots that way for both. The only power tools I have used so far is a sawzall and angel grinder.

This was a test fit but has gotten furture and has mounting points now.

Cousin cut the floor out to be able to get the shifter assembly to fit. Have to cut the shaft and redirrect it so that it doesnt hit the dash, right now its all in neutral.

That rad is out of a 5.0 exploder. I cant close the hood all the way with it sitting where I want it so I will have to clearance the hood latch area under the hood and i am going to be running hood pins now.

Right now Im feeling like I am behind, this is day 4 out of 7 I gave myself to get it driving again but its better to set a dealine of some kind then nothing at all I guess.

Tomorrow is shifter shaft mod so it doesnt hit the dash, or mod (cut out) the bottom of the dash, finish up the rad and get it fully mounted, or at least being able to fully mount, get the fuel pump mounted, etc...the rest of the little things.

Also have to get a new lower flex hose. Since the rad is sitting further forward then expected, its a few inches to short now so hopefully I can find a longer one with the same sized ends that I need. As for the top hose, fits perfectly.

Dam this is going fast! Doing one hell of a job, keep it up!!!!

I was just thinking about some thing like that, they made one on "Monster Garage" when they did the three wheel trike with the diesel engine, but I couldn't figure out how to explain it to you.
this way you don't have to cut your dash, and you could shortin up the shifting movement.

you can make a drain/temp probe fitting to work with the hose you have out of some pipe to make up the difference.

running the summit type radiator is nice as you can fit it with a hood latch and get superior cooling. maybe make it a mod later down the road if you tear that radiator up.

looks like you should not have any cooling issues though.

some cut/weld or time with a rosebud can go a ways towards making your shifter work ok.

taking a few extra minutes to make the front removable goes a huge way towards maintenance later on.

my front lifts off in just a couple of minutes....way worth it.

Are you able to elaborate on the drain hose mod thing as in pictures, link, and/or the materials needed?

I may try to bends the shifter rid by getting it red hot and bending it to where it doesn't want to smack the dash. I like the old school look of it and how long it is too so I'm going to try to keep it like it is as much as I can.

Today I'm going to try to get the fuel pump mounted, dizzy in, choke hooked up, shifter modded, oil filter relocation bracket hooked up and fix the slave line again and get the clutch working, may do that one first.

Last thing I will do is wiring, and there isn't much of that.
