hey guys, i havnt really researched much but i thought id put a post up, im running my 93 on 33in tires now but im lookin to do some trimming and get some 35s under it. i know 35s could be pushing the dana 35 as i get it against some rocks and slam the gas to the floor once in a while. my question is with spicer u joints in it now, is there any aftermarket axles i could toss in or anything to make it stronger for the 35s. im trying to stay away from doin the d44 knuckle swap for now, thanks in advance.

The D35 can handle a 35" tire pretty well. Believe it or not, the major weak link with running a 35 inch tire are the hubs and wheel bearings. You will probably want to upgrade to some Warn Jeep hubs. As for the wheel bearings, take your time setting them up, use high quality hi-temp grease, put red threadlocker on the outer locknut, and torque it down to 250 ft. lbs.

As far as shafts, they are just as strong or stronger than a Dana 44, except for the outers which fail rarely.

Make sure your running Spicer 760x joints, and tack the caps in.

x2 you wont have a problem, now if you lock the front and get in a good bind then u might brack a shaft, but u really got to be rodding on it. the hubs will gernade befor the shafts, or u-joints.

The shafts are definitely not strongER than a D44, they are pretty close equivalents though (the splined end on the D35 is actually smaller, but that's not normally the weak point).

Recently alloy D35 stub shafts have also appeared on the market.

Get the "Jeep" hubs, run genuine Spicer 5-760X axle u-joints (no "house-brand" junk here), and secure the caps to the yoke somehow (weld, or install full-circle clips, not the stock half-clips), and it should do fine with 35s, even on stock stubs. Some here even run 38s on it with surprisingly minimal breakage. Nothing is indestructible however, so continual mashing of the throttle could still result in things breaking.

Do not pull hard in reverse. BANG! Try not to hammer it with the wheels turned full lock or you will break u-joints and shafts. It will treat you well if you take care of it. Just drive with your head and not your foot.

The inner passenger shaft on a D35 is stronger because it does not neck down. That's what I was referring to.

sounds pretty good, thanks for the input everyone
