I can't help myself lately. All I want to do is lookup projects for my truck and hit the junkyard. I love grabbing good stuff that others pass over. Hard to find good rangers in So. Cal. but most out here don't know that explorers crossover.

This is so true. I get to take stuff apart twice. It's also fun to use the salvage cars to figure out how some things are done

And, sometimes if there's a particularly inscrutable cover or locking mechanism, finding one half apart gives you the necessary clues!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for my toolbox is with me; my wrench and my hammer they comfort me.

I love poking around yards, deconstructing things and seeing how they are put together. My wife is from Omaha and likes to go up there on weekends, she goes shopping at the mall or whatever and I go junkin'.

Since I bought this old 93 XLT Supercab 4x4 4.0 I have made numerous trips to the local junkyards.

Converted from A4LD to M5OD.

Converting from electric transfer case to manual...try scrounging parts for that swap. The shift linkage and huge pivot bolt is ALWAYS missing in action!!

Just found an almost brand new receiver hitch the other day for $25 bucks!

I bought this little truck to haul my dirt bike to the trail heads and save miles from my expensive Duramax 4x4 truck....but now I spend so much time tinkerin on this little truck I haven't been out riding as much!

They are like $5 with a ball here. Most of the time they are stuck in the hitch though.

I'm talkin the whole frame mounted hitch assembly...quite a bargain when it was $125 new.

The bolts were completely un-corroded and new so easy disassembly, it must not have been mounted for very long...pretty good score.

Now....if I could just find me a set of manual locking hubs.....lol.

I love going. So far on my '96 I've gotten all my parts from explorers. I added new cluster with tach, center radio trim where I'm adding another phone plug and a separate switch for the damn cargo light. I really want it independent from the interior light. I also snagged the overhead console and will be doing that soon. Who knows, maybe even a 4.0 upgrade someday.

Quick question. Any thoughts on changing from 14" to 15" rims? Other than 14" tires are more money and harder to find.

When I first went to a yard, there were model A's and T's in there.
I bought a spare parts truck, so I wont be needing parts for the truck.

I spent every afternoon for a good month and a half in the junkyard when I built my Dakota. You have to with a Dodge. Going there for Ranger parts is a luxury comparatively.
