daily doubler build

slo-vo, I'll probably look to grab one. The fewer chances of failure the better.

the auto will atleast get you running until you find a 5 speed computer....i hope they are easier for you to find then it was for me took me atleast a month couldnt find anything in the yards

Hmm, your ecu number is probably different than mine would need to be since you've got a 94. I have an ecu from a 93 4.0 5 speed explorer, doubt it will work though. I'm trying to search now and find the ecu number I need, then I'll check ebay haha.

you are correct, i had to have one 94 and down because of the sequential/batch fire deal

mine was a HAG0, i actually found mine on here from a guy in hawaii :shok: only needed the computer but he had a superchip with it so had them both shipped over

Bray you need 95+ due to OBD2....totally different setup programming wise...

I figured as much.

It's not that bad...IIRC a 2WD ranger with the 4.0L and 5 spd ECU will work, since the GEM is what shifts the tcase ( in electric tcase apps)....I'll keep my eye out for one, if I spot one, I'll grab it for ya

SVT - :icon_thumby:

I pulled the plugs today, cranked it over a few times, put the plugs back in and tried to fire it up. It would only fire on starting fluid. Once the starting fluid burned up, it would die. The inertia switch was reset, and I could hear the fuel pump. There's just over 1/4 tank of gas in it.

This thing has been sitting for ~3 years if I've got my story straight. Gas is most likely no good. Should I go through the effort of siphoning the tank and putting some fresh gas in it to hear it run? It did fire and ran for a few seconds with the ether.

I'd kinda like to hear it run for a while, get up to operating temp, etc. but I don't really know how that's gonna help me. I guess it'll tell me if there's any serious issues, though I didn't hear any distinct knock for the short period of time it was running today.

So whatta you say? Fresh gas to make sure its good, or call it good with the short time it ran today and yank it out?

id say yank it, if it ran with fluid then it should run with the good stuff hooked up.

might have to pull the fuel rails and injectors and clean them out if they have been sitting for 3 years with fuel in them

I'm with Jon, if she ran and you didn't hear any strange noises, then she should be ok. If you want to hear it run a lil bit, do this. I'm sure you have a spare RBV fuel tank laying around, drop a few gallons of good gas in it, wire up the fuel pump to straight power jumper wires from the battery, and just splice in the fuel lines right at the fuel filter, leave the return line where it is. Your not going to drive the donor, so you don't have to mount the fuel tank (you can even drop the donor's tank, refuel and leave it down if you really want to hear it run longer). But honestly, I say your ok at this point. You would know if you had a bent valve, pushrod, or bad connecting rod the few seconds it ran...If that trans is a 5R55E, Brandizzle would be interested in it for her Sport Trac, as her case is busted at the tcase adapter...PM me if your not gonna use it...

My stock ranger tank turned into a bonfire bomb one drunken night :D

My stepdad thinks I should try to get it running with some fresh gas. I'm with you guys though, it fired, so the electrical system is working and its getting air. There's just a fuel issue.

I think I'll yank it, swap it in, and make sure it runs with fresh gas before I get too far into reassembling everything. That way if it still fails to fire, I can pull it relatively quickly and clean up the fuel rails and injectors.

SVT - I just bought the engine and swap related components from this Ex. I'll talk with the owner though. I'm pretty sure he just plans to take it to the chipper. I'll see if he'll let the trans go for a decent price.

Ok, thanks. He'll probably want more than $100 for it though, either way let me know, thanks.

My Dad had surgery this week and is in the hospital, so I'm gonna run down and see him tomorrow.

Progress will be slow on the truck again this weekend.

Pops made it through the surgery fine, but has been very distant since he's been home. My stepmom and stepbro found him last night locked in the pickup with 1.5 empty bottles of Nyquil and a loaded shotgun. They rushed him to the ER.

The family is fawkin tore up. I dunno what to think/do.

Just thought I'd let you guys know so you're not busting my balls for not getting shit done. I'm not a super religious guy, but prayers are appreciated. Thanks.

, You got em, Bray...Hope everything is okay and works out for the family :icon_thumby:
