daily doubler build

Woot! Just droping the new motor right in?

Brett - You're the man. We'll figure out something for payment.

Kyle - Yes. I'm not touching this one. I've learned my lesson haha. I poked my head under it, and it looks pretty dry. 99% cleaner than the 3.0 that was in my truck anyways. Everything so far says that I should trust that its a good motor. My luck is it was still running when it rolled, oil filled the cylinders, and bent all the rods or something stupid like that. I guess we'll find out.

Practice makes perfect :icon_rofl:

Bray, pull all the plugs and spin the motor over with the starter for about 15 seconds, then install the plugs and start it and let it run in the donor for about 5 minutes or so (providing it still is able to start and run, check inertia switch) before you pull it...
SVT

That would be smart. Its a pain in the ass to pull the plugs though. I was gonna pull the plugs once the engine was out haha. I guess time spent now is insurance that I don't waste a lot of time later. I'll do it.

You could cut the fenders off to aid both in removin the plugs as well as the entire engine after you start it up...
SVT

haha true. I'm not used to workin on junkers. I told the guy I just want the motor, and he said it'll probably just go to the scrap yard when I return the carcass so feel free to cut it up.

If definitely helps...

Did ya pull the trans with it? The other two engines I pulled I removed the trans/t-case and pulled the engine by itself. Just thinking of ways to make it as quick as possible. Don't wanna go to pull it with the trans and have it get hung up. and have to remount the engine to get the trans off, etc.

Both the donor and SVT I pulled the motor, trans and tcase together as one unit...Although I had the V8 in my donor, I pulled the starter for more clearance around the engine X-member/rack and pinion...exhaust manifolds stayed on...You may not have as tight of clearance issues since its the V6, once you get the fenders off you should be able to tell...
SVT

That would be AWESOME. Probably save me a day of work if I could pull it all as one unit.

I actually installed the V8, trans and tcase as one unit as well into SVT, but that was a pain....Next time I will install the motor, then the trans and tcase from underneath....

I ended up having to take the upper intake plenum off to clear the firewall/core support...

Oh yeah, it'll go back in individually. When its my trans and doubler, I can do that with my eyes closed. Its just a hassle working on a 'foreign' vehicle trying to figure out how everything comes apart laying on your back when its 2 inches from your face. Auto trans FTL.
