D35 Upper ball joint boots?

So I have some new Moog upper ball joints, but they do not have boots (see pic below). Am I missing something? I thought all ball joints use boots, or are there bootless designs?. Both packages did not have the boots in them.

I contacted Rock Auto and they contacted Moog. Moog says that this is a bootless design. See attached pdf.

Not sure how this is gonna work when I put the knuckle back on the beam. Seems to me there will be a gap. I'll post some pics when I do it in case someone else has this issue.

What gap are you concerned about? If a boot was filling a gap, it was just taking up space but not doing anything structural. The boots are just to keep dirt out and lube in. They don't support any weight.

A bootless design is a great idea if it seals out the dirt and stays lubricated. The boots are the first thing to crack and the grease gets contaminated, leaks and kills the ball joint.

Yes, the taper in the shank is what holds the ball joint in place. A gap there will not hurt anything.

Alrighty, looks like I should be set. First time I ever rebuilt an axle, so I winging it as I go. Thanks guys!
