Cool find at Ollie's (discount/closeout chain)

Johnny Lightning released a limited-edition 1/64 scale 1983 Ford Ranger in 2021.

Ollie's has these now for $3.99 each. They had been about $10.00 new. Here's how they look on the card:

I saw black and white as in the picture and also yellow and white. Don't know what other colors were made. Got one of the black and white for myself and one for my brother. The hood opens to show a representation of the engine. These models were nicely done.

There aren't too many Ranger models around, so you might be interested in looking for this one.

They sale on E-Bay and WhatNot for around $45 -50. I can't pay that, and don't have Ollie's near me. Cool find and thanks for sharing

Look in the toy aisles at Ollie's. Usually one aisle will have all the guy and car stuff, sometimes including larger die-cast models (1/24, 1/18).

I'm going to give my brother his for Christmas. He said a while back that my Ranger wouldn't be of any use to him (if something happened to me) because it doesn't have 4WD and he supposedly needs that for winter driving in his area. I'll write a clue on the tag saying, "You don't like mine, but maybe you'll like this one."

In fairness, he walked back what he said when I asked him to whom I should leave my Ranger.

They had a brown and a blue one I have yet to cross paths with yet. I ordered the green and Motorcraft one, snagged the yellow one at target.

They had random white ones too that were supposed to be really rare.

And I got my kid an extra green one to play with too.

I think the green ones were like $10 each, red was more, maybe $20 when I did the pre-order.

IF they had white tires, it's a "chase" AKA Limited edition. Johnny Lightning uses white tires, Greenlight will have green rims and base, M2 has gold Rims and base and yada yada yada.

The red and white were reversed. White truck with a red stripe.

Yep, that's a Chase alright. If it's still there, I'd go back and get it. It could be worth a lot more than the purchase price. Either for collecotrs value or resale value, it's worth having. IMPO

I know they BOTH say Limited Edition, and they may very well be, but the White Lightning Edition is even more "limited" than the Red version.

That Auto World 2022 calendar also has a picture of the Johnny Lightning 1981 Mazda RX-7. Ollie's had those too for the same price. Yes, I got a couple.

I pre-ordered my red one a year and a half ago, the thing said the white ones were mixed in at random and you might "win" one of those. They didn't even have pictures of them at the time.

I just did a Google to see what they looked like and found that picture.

Saw a Johnny Lightning "project" version of the Ranger on eBay that was painted to look as though it had rust and parts pulled from other ones. This version is identified as an '84. There were also versions packaged with a trailer.

Looks as though Johnny Lightning is going to continue to release new colors and call the model an '85. EBay has venders offering pre-orders for a solid black and a solid copper version with "4x4" graphics.

EBay has examples of the brown and blue ones 85_Ranger mentioned he hadn't run across. I'm happy with what I found at Ollie's.

I kinda wondered about it being the best year ranger ever, I dont think those wheels came out too much earlier than that but never got around to checking.

They have different paint schemes for thr project ones... if I could just get s solid green one with rust...
