they forgot the front cover and oil pan gaskets. that things gonna leak like a seive :taunt:

the tube by the alternator is the exhaust for the alternator cooling air. many of the 2.3's ive seen went a step further and have a huge plastic scoop that runs from the alternator, up over the engine toward the front of the vehicle and mounts just behind the raditator fan so when the fan runs, air is "scooped" up and ducted to the alternator. im guessing ford is having trouble keeping the higher output alternators cool when mounted on the back side of the engine right next to the exhaust. not sure why they didnt keep it mounted right up front on the "cool" side of the motor like the escorts....:dunno:

Something I noticed, is that they are injecting the fuel into the intake prior to the actual valves opening... Is this how they actually set up the fuel timing?

on a SEFI engine, yes. the fuel has time to hit the hot intake manifold and valve and start to vaporize before the valve opens and draws it into the chamber. much more efficient this way.

on bank fired engines (most pre-OBDII vehicles), the injectors fire several times during the cranks revolution.

that used to be my screen saver a few years back. I accidentally deleted it. Its pretty cool!
