A number of you have been following my saga as far as purchasing my first Bronco II. See the thread Purchasing 1st B2. Need advice

Thanks for all who have been chiming in, you have been greatly appreciated.

As I work my way to purchasing that first B2 it is obvious that there are very few if any vehicles within driving distance. What that leaves me with is the complication of probably buying a Bronco, that until it arrives in my driveway, I will not have seen. I'm prepared to spend the cash to enlist a service offered by a company like Lemon Squad to do the inspection and give me the confidence to pull the trigger. Then having it shipped. The real complication is the actual transaction.

I'm hoping to take advantage of experience here on TRS on how one completes the transaction when purchasing a B2 from a distance. How do I uphold my part of the transaction, namely paying the seller, with the confidence I will not only get the vehicle as well as the legal docs to prove I now own it?

If you have done something like this in the past I'd appreciate some advice. Is there a third party that can navigate this?

Thanks

Stuart

Man, there was a few b2 for sale in corpus last month on facebook. I will see if i can find them again

All over texas. San antonio, houston, nixon, corpus, mathis. Lots down here in south texas

I bought mine sight unseen... shipped from Florida to Illinois.

I used escrow.com. it was flawless and I would use them again.

Post number 2 in my build thread...

@superj Thanks for the legwork but other than the '84 those need more work than I have interest in taking on. I'm really looking for an '87 or '88.

@Uncle Gump Great! That's exactly what I'm looking for.

Get on craigslist and set the search perimeters to what youre looking for after going on google to get to the town you want.

For instance when im dreaming of finding a rust free 3/4ton dentside or bullnose for a decent price ill type in google "santa fe craigslist", go to cars and trucks, go to options set make/model as "ford" (remember that not everyone will write "Bronco II" the correct way, id pry search just bronco) then year range "73-86" and hit submit. Then i go to the top and change towns when im done in that town.

Be surprised what you can find.

@superj Thanks again. Actually I do a nation wide search on Craigs daily. I’ve found a couple worth following up on but not many that check the boxes. I’ll keep looking and hope I find one close to me but in the mean time this post is really about learning the logistics of completing the transaction.

where are you at, city wise? i will get bored at work and look in marketplace.

Have a forum member go look at it before you spend the money on it. Most people on this forum that are fan boys (not using that in a bad way) will know a piece of junk as soon as they walk up to it. Taking it for a test drive by a forum member would ease my mind more then Lemon Squad or something.

People are much less likely to pull a fast one on someone local that will stand there while the vehicle is being loaded to make sure they did not do something at the last minute such as swap rollers onto it. Though I have sold vehicles on E-Bay, I have never bought one that I did not pick up myself. So, I can not help you there.

the ones i bought on ebay, i also went and picked them up so i knew i got what i paid for
