Chevy spring swap...no lift???

Can someone do me a favor? If you have stock or 63"s measure from top of the spring to the bottom of the frame?

Mine measures 12" from the top of the leaf springs (in the center about the axle) to the bottom of the frame (where the bump stop is)

Thanks!

Ok....measured mine.

From the top of the leaf to the bottom of the frame rail right beside the bump stop = 8" on mine...

I really appreciate your help! Maybe mine is fine then. It didn't look like it lifted my truck but who knows. I guess I'll find out more when I complete my sas.

Yea it doesn't look like you have any weight on them. I think you should be Ok. Like I said if needed, add a leaf to the pack.

Yeah I might just do that. I think I need to move the jack stands closer to the front of the truck. Then I'll set the bed back on the back and see if it looks right. Like you said, I'd add the long Ranger leaf but cut the eyes off.

Are lift Chevy 63's junk? Seems like most lift springs for full sizes are stiff.

I left the overload in mine (5.5" procomp's) and they flexed fine in a heavier excab truck.

'Our' trucks looked good...... now they just collect dust! haha....

Im planning on running a simular setup in the rear, I would take the Chevy 64's and ranger leafs and mix them, reuse the ranger main leaf by cutting the eyes off and using the 64 as the new Main.

Next, Make a press out of square tubing 2x3 and a hydrolic bottle jack:

Do this to your pack, one leaf at a time, until they are rearched to 12". To measure turn the leaf over 180 from how it sits on your truck put it on the ground then take a measurement from the ground to the middle of the curve. Make the bends slow and smooth.

Put them on your truck with no blocks between them and the axle, Put deired weight in the back, decide if you need more leafs. If after adding leafs it continues to sit to low for your desire, than move the rear bracket down or make a new one with a drop...

I say this with personal opinion based on things I plan to do, and i guess im just not a big fan of blocks....:icon_thumby:
