Chevy 63 & 64 Inch Leaf Spring Clarifications....

Oh good deal. I'm thinking I'm going using 3 washers on both sides to match up with the bracket, i have some laying around. Do you know where to get new hangers? I see people in their builds saying they bought new hangers, but they never say what brand or from where.

Usually they get em right from the Ford parts counter.

Okay.
I'm probably going to be getting some leafs tomorrow, only $25 a pack at the JY! Last time i was there, i saw all kinds of 2500's. So I guess that's what I'll probably get them out of.. Long as they measure 63" right? What is the width 2.5"?

Once i have the leafs is there anything i have to do to them before i put them in?

Ok after reading this I have a few questions. If you get the 63" chevy springs re-arched for a little lift(I want to ditch the factory block and gain 3" over stock height) does it bring the spring eyes closer together than 63"? If so do u have to move the front bracket forward less than 6"? Or does the shackle make up the difference?

Had mine arched and brought the eyes to 59".. Works well if you add springs. You have to move the front and rear hangers quite a bit.

My old pack that I'm trying to sell.

when you had those arched 12", is that 12" over stock, or 12" from a line drawn between the eyes to center bolt? and where did you place your front hanger after the re-arch?

Finally had time off work to post this.. I got these off of a Chevy 1500 4x4 the other weekend for only $25 a pack. But they are not the original ones [I'm assuming]. They look they are just replacement ones. They have "JAI 15659738" on them. I looked it up and didn't come up with anything.. Hopefully they will still work for this swap.. I am a little worried because None of the leafs at the JY measured 63".. Most were like 57" or something.. These ones are 61"and 13/16", but once under pressure they'll probably lengthen a little. Unless I'm measuring these all wrong they are not 63" 'eye to eye'.

Here's some pictures.

The Bellteck 6400 shackles, and 9/16" x 5.5" grade 8 bolts.

That's why they are also known as 64" springs.
Mine and all others I've seen in the j-yards have measured 64". I have another set out back for my 98, they measured 64" too.

I always use a seamstress tape to measure anything not flat or straight.

my new leaf pack, just for the record....64" chev main, chev 2nd, chev 3rd, chev 4th, ranger main minus eyes, ranger 2nd....all re-arched to 15"

BEFORE re-arching....

I wonder why the ones i measured were no-where close to that. And I'll have to measure mine with a seamstress tape also, see where it's at that way. Has anyone heard of the brand i have?

Those look awesome man! where did you get those 'clamps' [don't know the actual term..] to hold the leafs in place?

Obviously rearching brings eyes closer, I'm looking to do a shackle flip possibly with 64s the drop shackle and stock block. For a rock crawler with about 6" suspension would it be worth to shackle flip for flex or just run normal?

Just had a question... I just bought a 97 ranger with a 4" lift on it. But the rear has the stock 4x4 blocks and the 4" lift blocks. I'm going to be swapping in my 63" leafs from my old truck, but don't wanna have that stock 4x4 block in there.. I've done this swap with just moving the hanger forward, and keeping the stock 4x4 blocks. I don't want to keep those stock 4x4 blocks, so i was thinking i could just build a new front "hanger" a few inches lower then the stock hanger, I'm assuming you have to build a new rear mount for the shackle as well? Anyone does thing with some pictures, and good results?
Thanks!
