I started to change front shocks and broke the end of the stud that is mounted to the radius arm, even after heating the rusty old nut holding the shock on... I know someone on here had done the same thing, or else theirs broke off right at the radius arm and had posted what they did to fix it. I tried to find this, but the Search button was not helping me to find it. Can anyone help me out with this?

I welded a grade 8 bolt onto the arm on my truck. Its been that way for 3 years with no problems.

I don't have access to a welder, and I don't think my oxy/acet. setup would work too well for it (besides, I'm out of gas, lol). I did take the grade 8 bolt idea from you though- thank you. :) I bought a grade 8 5/8-11 x3 bolt from Lowe's today. Fired up my trusty old 94 Yamaha Jog, compressed the new shock, put it in the helmet compartment under the seat and headed out to Lowe's. I got some hardened flat washers to help hold the shock, and all the hardware was zinc coated, so hopefully soon it will be all together. Picked up a hydraulic press so I can do my axle pivot bushings as well, so hopefully my truck will be back on the road soon.

I also had to weld bolts to my radius arms! We need to spread the word that to prevent a simple shock replacement from becoming a nightmare, those nuts should be split off! Don't even try to spin them off, go straight for the nut cracker!
