Carb and Intake???

Do those kits just bolt in inplace of the points?

Yes, all three I've used had a single screw that held em in place. One of the same ones used on the points. They're all a 15-30 minute install. Two wires to hook up , both to the coil. Once your done, your done for good. No more adjusting or anything else to keep it tuned. Tune ups only involve changing the plugs, wires cap & rotor. And that only about every two years at most.

Okay so the distributor, cap and rotor are brand new. The thing I cant figure out is when I first got the truck it ran fine. I had been driving it about 4 months or so when it first started messing up. That just doesnt seem like the points would have done it. I cant remember if it did it or not the last time I replaced it or not. For now Im going to try replacing points and then unhooking the vacuum advance on the dizzy and try that. I understand that $100 isnt much but as said before Im not gonna put money into it just to sell it a week later.

I guess you missed the part about the cost of a set of points and condenser + the dwell meter, which you must have to get the points set correctly, are going to be nearly what you'll pay for an electronic conversion module.

The one from Jegs is a newer, simpler design.
You were going to spend $200 for a carb and intake that probably wouldn't fix your problem, Don't worry about $80 that probably will fix your problem.
By the way, I've got a write up on a 302 that Roush built using a holley 2bbl making around 400hp.

The reason I asked it the summit one looks like it bolts into the point screw holes. The jegs looks like it replaced the entire insides of the dizzy? Should I order the jegs model right away? lol

the ignitor from jegs looks like you will have to disassemble the whole dist. to install... maybe not, but the other one as you noticed merely bolts in.

In neither of the Ignitor kits (I or II) did I have to replace the whole breaker plate. I think they just used single picture to depict all their kits on the Jegs site. Both kits I used, plus the Crane XR-1, used a single screw to hold it in place. The other screw hole had a stub on the bottom of the ignitor mount to fix it in place

Okay well then the jegs is cheaper so when I decide to do it thats what will go on it.
