I know there are plenty of threads on subwoofers and setups, ive gone through a lot, but I want to ask about how i could get the most bass out of the system i am trying to complete.

Im running 4 infinity reference's on an alpine pdx-5, i have yet to add any subwoofers but i had bought a 6.5 inch sub for under my seat. I'm getting a lot of slack from friends and they all say it will be hard for that to deliver the amount of bass I want. Basically I now understand it wont match up with my awesome speakers.

So... I am gonna put that 6.5 away and save it for another day and I'm going to look for some other subwoofers.

Here's the thing, I still want my cargo space and my jump seats. Obviously I'm willing to let go of enough space for a sub or two but I still need space for my toolbox and other random shit to fit (and NO Im not going to put the toolbox in the bed and im not buying those toolbox things for the bed).

So Im thinking I could put two 8 inch slim subwoofers underneath the jump seats laying flat on the floor, Im wondering if that would create a good amount of bass, I understand the boxes wouldn't be very large and I'm kinda worrying about that.

OR, would it be better to get say a 12 inch sub and put it in the center area? I may lose more space but if it makes a hell of a difference i'd consider it.

And yes if you have any other options Im listening, so long as I can keep a decent amount of space. Sorry if i sound hard-headed but i want to keep it clean.

Thanks for any help guys, btw a lot of you have some killer setups man! :icon_thumby:

I like a cold cut special sub myself............MMMMMMMMMMMM sub

J/K how about cutting out the floor under the jump seats and boxing in with steel to create 2 boxes?

lmao, i don't need help with subs, my part time job is working at Publix in the deli making subs, haha

but idk about cutting the floor, that seems like it will create much more hassle....

are you going to get the required Vas under the jumper seats? It doesnt seem like alot to work with... I also feel the drivers wouldnt have enough room to even be mounted if you made it out of mdf....

thats up to you. do you want to complament your system? be a lil plus side of the bass? or what speakers? kinda level.

75w rms x4 that a good set up.

the big things you will notice about 10's and 12's are were they put out. tens can give you a tighter cleaner sound. were as 12 can go lower and be a lil more boomer. and this is a rule of thumb. you can play with box size and and power to get the sound you want to hear. so what are you looking for?

I guess im looking for clean bass, but i still want it to be making enough to rock the doors just a bit.

i think i want the sub to compliment the system again i dont want it to be nonexistent.

my dilemma is figuring out how to keep a good amount of space left over, i still would like to have those rear seats operative.

Something I always wanted to try was replacing the bench for buckets, making a custom center console and have a 10 or a 12 mounted in the center facing the rear of the cab. You probably aren't looking to spend that much money but it's always nice to dream.

if you lose a seat. a 10 i think will fit your needs and give you room carry stuff too

Id have to say if you want good clean bass with as little distortion as possible I would have to say go with a single 12in kicker solobarac L7, they only need one cubic foot of airspace in a sealed box and they will bang....I'm running 2 of them right now and they're awesome. Now if you wanna go crazy with bass and be able to bounce a quarter off your roof a foot in the air, hehehe go with 2 soundstream tarantulas t-4s in a ported box....only problem with those is they need 3cubic feet of airspace in a ported enclosure per sub....but theyl make your hair fall out.....lol take it from a 23yr old bald guy..haha

The OP wants to complement the system he has. not get a heart mummer. :icon_cheers:

and its one cf plus the displacement of the sub and that baby is big.
that like my sw8000, just a solid mass of sub..

there CVT can put some out, and is shallow. the sw6010, or sw4010 will do. how much are you looking to spend?

I guess I don't have a big spending limit, as long as I get a good deal on a good subwoofer, I've been saving up for this system so i don't want to take shortcuts now.

Do the "slim" subwoofers produce a lot less than the regular ones, because Im sure that would help me out with space.

Also what is this stuffing thing that i can add to the box?

My final comment is that I think I would be okay with losing just one seat, if push comes to shove I could always disconnect the subwoofer for a trip that required more space. You think a 12 could fit behind the drivers seat, or should i just get a high end 10?

That would be a dream but I'm not wanting to do THAT much work, lol, trust me i could do it, but I simply dont have the time with school and work

I'll check out those solobarac's man, but those tarantulas sound like a bit too much, lol. I know i said i wanted to rock the doors, but i didn't say i wanted to throw the doors off their hinges. :D

Damn I checked out those solo baric's and I think the L5 would be pretty sweet, i found one that already has the enclosure too, would you guys recommend that?

I also thought the Infinity 100.9 looked pretty neat, and the Rockford Fosgate P3D210 looked nice too.

That's probably the area of subwoofers I'd look into... just to give you an idea.

Out of these subs which do you all recommend? Is the enclosed pre made box worth it or should i make my own?

Sorry to pose all these questions, lol, I just want to be informed when I make a final choice :icon_thumby:

I'm going to take measurements in the meantime, just to see how much space id be willing to lose.

you can fit a 15 behind the seat and still have the other seat and the center section. but your box will come up to the bottom of the back window.

nope they will produce the same as there counterparts in the same class of sub.
there just built slimmer so the box size is more back pressure then driver displacement.

my 2 c kickers make higher middle of the road subs.... good bang for the buck. and the quality is there. i like eclipse and JL audio's but they make your wallet lighter

Also what is this stuffing thing that i can add to the box?

its to fool the sub to making it think the box is bigger. i would build the box first and dont use stuffing to in your equation. it has been know to trap heat and cause issues. but its handy if you just need a lil
