So.
I’m still working on my truck and I’m starting work on the front axles.
I was wondering if I can remove the driveshafts and differential case and then bolt the suspension back together and drive the truck while I fix the differential, or get a replacement?
I see instructions that basically just require to remove the pinch bolt from the upper ball joint and then separate the driveshaft.

Thanks for any feedback.

I don't think it would be operational if you pulled the front differential, you would be removing the whole front axle, therefore you aren't going anywhere.

You could pull the front drive shaft, and take the internals out of the front differential and you'd be fine, but if you need the actual differential case, you'll be pulling the whole front axle assembly.

he has a 2002. SLA front suspension.

the problem will be the wheel/hub bearings. without the CV stud in there which provides the bearing preload the bearings fall apart.
if you can source some junk CVs put the outers in and torque them to spec. that will keep the bearings together, then you're free to remove the diff housing.

Thanks for the correction. Didn't realize until after you pointed it out that he's working on an 02 LOL. Maybe its nap time.

Thanks a lot for the info.
That’s exactly what I needed to know.

No driving while fixing...
