Feel like a noob for not knowing what this is but I can’t find any information online.
Check the photo attached, some type of small shock but I do not know what it is or where to get replacements.
I just replaced the shocks and coils with a 2” lift on my 1994 Ranger but I would like to replace these too.
Hope someone can help!

Vibration dampener, from what I could gather from a quick Google search.. they usually last about a year and you won't notice any difference replacing it.

Do they do anything important? This one is the original from 1994 so I’m sure it’s due for replacement. Or do they not do much and that’s why they don’t make replacements?

Many have removed them and reported no difference

I am sure they do wear out, and my 1994 still has it's original one, never have noticed a difference

They are a damper to keep the engine from moving around as much, unless you have a manual transmission and/or manual transfer case there is a high likelihood that you would never know it's there... I'm guessing kinda like the third shock going horizontal in the rear of some Explorers... who is doing a slalom in an explorer enough to notice the side to side movement in the rear axle from the drivers seat?

Some engineer at Ford put a decimal in the wrong place and said "holy smokes this engine is gonna make so much power we better put shocks on it!".
