About 4 months ago I had my transmission rebuilt. The shop that did the transmission repair also said my radiator was bad and needed replacement so I did it. Jump ahead 4 months. My check engine light comes on. Then I notice that the radiator is leaking and I figure they might be connected. I take my truck back to the transmission repair shop and they replace the radiator and tell me they scanned a camshaft sensor error. I drive my truck for about a week with NO problems. No engine performance issues at all.
Then one morning I go to work I notice my truck starts out in second gear. I take it to my mechanic and he confirms it. He then calls the transmission shop and together they conclude that the problem might be the camshaft sensor is bad and is causing the transmission to start in 2nd gear. I can find nowhere that says starting in 2nd gear is a symptom of a bad camshaft sensor. I don't want to spend $300 to repair a camshaft sensor that is not the problem. Your advice, suggestions, insights are is appreciated.
