build thread for 2.8 carb to chevy tbi.

you may need to take a drill to elongate the bolt holes to get you enough adjustment on it, but it's pretty easy.

Thanks for the tip ill keep it in mind. Also thanks for helping with everything so far.

its no problem man, we will solve this.

Would this work on a fuel injected 2.9?

Ok, i should first ask, do you think there would be any performance improvements? I dont know, im kinda new to fords.

Probably none whats so ever over oem even if it was possible. I believe the 2.9 are sequential injected "a injector for each piston" which is much more effective than this batch injection. Also this was done to improve drivability which it has done majorly, despite the little issues.

The 2.9 setup could have been adapted to work on the 2.8. I've seen a b2 on another forum running it.

the 2.9 is not sequential fuel injected it is batch fire like everything else in the '80s. and just like the tbi

Thanks for correcting me. Distributor output may be an issue...

I think you are for some reason under the impression that direct injection automatically means sequential injection

this is not true, in fact most direct injection/MPFI (multi point fuel injection) didn't go sequential until OBDII

and even most OBDII sequential systems kick over to a batch-fire strategy over 3500 RPM

Well i was wondering if there was some sort of performace upgrade here because wouldnt it of been easier to just put a 3.8 tbi on it? Or am i just a lost puppy looking for a home? :icon_confused::dunno:

Again your always so knowledgeable. The 3.8 tend to run rich.

the 3.8 is 35% larger than a 2.8, and its fuel curves reflect that. The 3.8 does not have the idle air control integrated into the throttle body so a person needs to jury rig the IAC into the intake somewhere.....the list goes on

nobody has successfully installed a 3.8 tbi onto a 2.8 (without it running black-smoke rich), but I have successfully installed a gm 2.8tbi onto a ford tbi twice now
